Must have been a Rippa game with the game ending in a draw ??? Are they the 2 best sides or is there a Smokey

Controversial draw swoop, final siren went tally won by a point.

Umpires had different scores on their scorecards, (1 ump had tally won, other had a draw) so game was called a draw...? Would of thought majority rules maybe? 2 out of 3 people had the same result, yet they went with the other umpire...?

Interesting to see what come within the next few days/week

Hey buddy - I am in a position to be fairly knowledgeable with rules and procedures in this case. I wasn’t present but could maybe help to clarify.

Do you know if the umpire at the Tally scoring end was the one with the eventual incorrect scorecard? Or Stanhope end?

When you say third person, was that the official timekeeper/scorekeepers card or just going by the scoreboard?

Let me know and I should be able to clarify how a goal umpire would handle that situation

Wasn’t there today mate, went to ky v Echuca. Sorry mate, hope the son is doing well
Operation a success. Surgeon warned him that his vision is now that much better he needs to be careful when he jumps in a car for the first time. He now has wider peripheral vision so cars coming past him on a freeway may scare him. Might be able to reduce all those side hits on the field that have knocked him out. Nic delighted already with his improved vision. All I care about is that his vision is now good enough he can see his wallet and shout his old man a beer.

Not exactly sure, just passing on what I’ve heard. So can’t comment on which end the umpire was at,

and the third person I referred to was timekeeper/scorekeeper (which run the new electronic scoreboard for Stanhope)

Generally speaking, if a scorecard has an extra behind, the scorecard that NORMALLY is given the benefit of the doubt goes to the person who has the extra - its easier to miss one then to put an extra on the scorecard.

And then from there normally if a behind is missing you usually find it is from the umpire who is at the end the behind was scored. Nowadays with the ball being kicked back in to play so fast us goal umpires easily forget to mark one down from our end

The procedure is that both goal umpires check scores at end of quarter/game. Once scores are confirmed we signal all clear to the scorekeepers or adjust the score accordingly. It does happen occasionally like above that the two umpires will have very small differences, and that is how it is usually worked out. Extremely rarely is a goal added or missed - you tend to be able to remember them on countback.

What goes on beyond that though is above my paygrade. If the scorekeepers and one goal umpire has the same score i’d be surprised if they did not go with that.

Hopefully video footage and common sense prevails to determine the correct result is finalised.

Just remember, just like Alex Rance can over step the goal square while kicking out or Buddy Franklin can miss an unthinkable shot from dead in front, umpires are human too. Mistakes can and will happen in all grades! I hope this one if it has happened does not cost a team a result.

I think the missed behind was purely with the scoreboard and not the umpires scores, so not really anything to look into.

I know people at Broadford FNC including people on the club committee who are telling me they’re in the KDFL next year. Do we know if this is true? Thoughts on this? Surely travel from places like Dookie, lancy and Tally to broadford has to be a abit of a problem here.
