I suggest he’s already getting protection and service that others wouldn’t.

If the “white paedo” had taken a gun into an alt-right rally and killed people do you think they would be getting the establishment support Rittenhouse has? Of course not. They are the controlled, not the served and protected.

What “establishment support” has Rittenhouse got? There’s been an incredibly strong bid against him from day one including the now president getting involved in determining his guilt prior to trial

Back on race again. Didn't take long.

Good to see Chief, Gough, yourself et al have got the thread back to where all all feel most comfortable...shouting racist at everything.
Says the person who supported a racist.

I hope the jury sees this. This is a major development! ;)

The prosecution would definitely try and use it if they knew about it

Vesty… come on.

Trump then pointed to a man who identifies as an anti-fascist and who is under investigation in the killing of a right-wing demonstratorafter a Trump rally in Portland.
Trump said the man “shot a young gentleman and killed him — not with paint, but with a bullet. And I think it’s disgraceful.”
The president offered no such condemnation, though, when it was noted that one of his supporters, Rittenhouse, has been charged with killing with actual bullets in Kenosha. Trump indicated he thought Rittenhouse’s actions might have been warranted.

Keep screaming.
You supported a racist, likely still do, so I get why discussions around race and racism must be incredibly difficult for you.

But if you don't like those discussions, either ignore them or join in constructively - instead of, ironically, screaming at them yourself from the side lines.

Race has nothing to do with this case.

You say the BLM riots are irrelevant. If this is true then race in this case isn't an issue yet you keep inserting it into the argument. You are trying to walk both sides of the street.

Then when called out you can only retreat to but Trump. Weak.

In part.

The ridiculous excuses. The establishment support. The hashtags. And on and on.

It’s over the top. It’s not people suggesting we dispassionately withhold judgment, it’s the active defense from day one.

What happens when it’s a black man in the news? Ooooo scary! He did something wrong! He can’t have expected anything but a choke hold! “Why do you support a violent criminal?!” “Happy to see a paedo dead!”

We live in the world where riots are kicked off, people die, lives destroyed off the back of a news corporation choosing to selectively edit a video or curate a narrative that suits a dramatic response - long before people have had any chance to actually take in evidence itself.

The media dictate the truth, they distort what will be the truth until it has to be dislodged.

Race has nothing to do with this case.
Put a black man in Rittenhouse's position.

How do you think it would have turned out from a policing and legal viewpoint?

How would it have gone differently? Kid was charged immediately and is now presenting his defence.
You reckon the police would have been as nice and welcoming to a black man playing vigilante?

I don’t agree that the news is really the only spark for these things.

Something has to be happening already. People have to be seeing something in their own lives. Whether that thing is real or not (take GamerGate and the online rioting it kicked off amongst the self-invented “white-boy gamer culture”)

It’s more complicated.

I assume that you’re talking about things like George Floyd etc. About black people kicking off. That’s the vibe I’m getting.

This ignores the fact that police violence, policing as control rather than service and protection, is the norm for too many people. It’s not an invention of the news.

I'm actually suggesting that even all the way back to Rodney King that the news had a longer tape they chose to edit to look as bad as possible, and the full tape isn't all that much better, because they knew it would get a bigger reaction.

You do that enough times with stories and then mutter a retraction that nobody hears because they are reacting to it then all those misleading facts become rusted on parts of the narrative in the social conscious.

Then it's ANOTHER ONE!

Remember how Rittenhouse shot black people earlier?

I think it’s been avoidable for centuries.
Agree on that as well. Still waiting for you to respond to the other parts of my posts though.

I agree that the legal system often favours those with money/ profile/influence etc. But does that change the verdict here? Do we lower the bar of reasonable doubt because you think he has had a leg up? Do we refuse him his right to select legal council. Stop those who wish to contribute? Manipulate and ban media coverage that isn't 100% impartial?

God. The point was Rittenhouse is higher up the hierarchy.

“BLM rioters” are down the hierarchy. You want to talk about stories massaged by the media? “BLM bad” is a biggie.

Just to clear it up.... Did you actually think the guys he shot were black?

He'll get off on self defense. It's 'merica **** yeah.

I wonder how he'll go in the court of mum and dad...

I know from first hand experience when I was charged with affray as a 19 year old, my name was mud at home for a good few months, even though I too was found not guilty.

But most bogan/chav/redneck parents celebrate non guilty verdicts with the same gusto as normal parents celebrate a university degree. Expect young Kyle to be in front of a judge again in the not too distant future.

They charged him. What else do you want them to do?
I'm talking before then.

You reckon the police would have let a black kid with an assault rifle wander the scene like they did with Rittenhouse?

You reckon the police would have let a black kid who had just shot multiple people leave the scene and go home?
