It's a nice signal for how docile life is in Australia that someone carrying a gun around here is terrifying when to hold it they need to pass lots of clearance checks but in the US you can carry one and it's not scary and have less restrictions.
Would think that says more about life in the US than in Australia.

The perspective for all of humanity except this little blip that Australia lives in is one of violence, defending what you have from those who would seek to seize it from you and human life cast aside with a wave of the hand.

So Australia is the dream more than the US is the nightmare.

She's worth protecting this beautiful nation of ours.

Scott would have condemned Kyle but said he understood his frustrations.

I'd like to think that politicians reserve comment on ongoing criminal cases.

And I'm glad you agree Australia is a paradise/dream worth protecting.

And yet we have people continually expressing their (bordering on) hatred for this country because it’s not perfect and came to be in circumstances that were in many ways miraculous, yet marred by tragic incidents. We have it in our power to make it better without destroying it. You only fully appreciate things after they’re gone.

The most direct way to convincing people to vote progressive is to make them feel like their world and way of life isn't worth protecting, the most direct way to convince people to vote conservative is to show them literally any other place or time in human history - perspective wins.

What sort of backward redneck country allows a 17yo to walk the streets with an assault rifle?

I want to point out that it's not an assault rifle, that's emotive language but we are talking about the same place that lets multiple time child rapists out on the street to burn the poor area of town down, destroying businesses in under insured areas and withdraws police because there is an election coming up and any opposition to white looters will be written as being against black lives matter.

You couldn't throw a handful of marbles into a crowd and hit the percentage of criminals, serious criminals, as Rittenhouse did with a handful of bullets with a small group of rioters.

People are seeing these trouble makers for what they are. Bad people. Not brave revolutionaries. Just bad people. I think it's why they've been so keen on linking everyone to a nazi, deep down they know the company they keep.

Lots of quotes about history being forgotten or ignored. It’s now either not taught or is being rewritten. How many school leavers know anything about the constitution and the origins of the federation?

Rittenhouse had armed himself with a semi-automatic[6] AR-15 style rifle[7][8]

Is that an assault rifle? Is that what the AR stand for?
Point is, America has the most insane gun laws in the world and is not a civil society.
It's legal for a teenager under 18 to a semi-automatic weapon in suburban streets.
What other country is that legal?
Therefore I stand behind my original post that America is a backward redneck country when it comes to gun laws.

So typical of the left, can never accept the umpire’s decision if it goes against what they have deemed to be “justice”, from their morally superior position

After the 12 months Trump and the GOP have just put in, this is extremely humorous :tearsofjoy:

I don't see firearms as the same sort of boogie man macguffin as other people do, or as a symbol of an advanced society that they are removed. As always it's the people involved that make or break it.

Gun control laws in the US are racially motivated anyway. Everyone there has a right to own and carry their own piece.

But you remember Martin Bryant and why we tightened our gun laws?
We don't have kids shooting up schools here.

lol. "All of humanity except Australia" :tearsofjoy:

I reckon there are a few more spots around the world than Australia where that isn't the case.

I do remember that. There's now more guns in the community than there was prior to the buyback. I put it to you that our rate of mass shootings was dropping before, as was our murder rate, and has continued after on the same trajectory.

I see shootings as mental health issues and criminal issues - both of which we excel at here compared to the USA.

Yes. Maybe learn how violent humans are, take off your cultural relativism glasses and see how good it is here right now.

It's not technically an assault rifle apparently, so that makes it all ok. :)
