You're not talking about the movement itself, you're talking about the media coverage of the movement. The movement started in 2013*. The year after an election.

*technically the movement started decades ago, but the BLM moniker was first adopted in 2013

Correct.

When you look at everything coming out of the TV as what they have decided you should see you will be far more cynical about how genuine people are about these issues which are going on all the time but only make the widespread news when it's election time.

They use people.

Yeah you might look at it like that if you only care about your own personal interests, I suppose.

If you can recognise that you're position is pushed into the national spotlight when it's convenient for the powers above you because it helps them with that power - and then very little to nothing is done in the time between so they can again use your cause for their gain and you're okay with that...

... well at some point you really are just a useful idiot. You're achieving nothing they don't want you to, and it has to serve them.

Well parading in the culture wars isn't bringing back the dead to life is it?

Time to move on.
"Parading in the culture wars" - what does that even mean?

Rittenhouse is revelling in it.

Who is "they"? Did Rittenhouse not swagger out onto the stage at a fascist rally?

And further:

Who gets their news solely from TV?

What about multiple sources and trustworthy journalists? The auditing that goes on amongst the news outlets?

Where did you get YOUR information on Rittenhouse?

Surely it's just THEY telling YOU what to believe?

You seem to think that prominent, blanket news coverage is the only indicator that the movement exists? That it disappears when you close your eyes?

Nonstop drive: 24 miles or 39 km
Driving time: 36 minutes
Is that many?
Also when traveling from his mothers house to where he worked he didn't have the firearm

Bit of a lol at the idea of you telling someone else they're a useful idiot.

Ran interference for anyone recently, Taylor?

Seems like people are getting a bit excessively amped up over this potential defamation case in another country to show their support for the dude who killed 2 people.

But it's totally not about race or politics.
They're just repeating all they heard on Steven Crowder.

Embarassing really that a good portion of our population are so invested in this stuff.

Well, we are pretty Americanized. And it was made political by Biden, Whoopie, CNN, Cenk, that tool Lebron, plus many others by the sounds of it and then seeing that, Fox and the right jumped on board and made Rittenhouse their boy. So its not that shocking its become political and Aussies talk about it.

"Lebron made it political"

Not really. There's been a bit of work unpacking how/why people get radicalised, and it boils down to this: they do it as disaffected lonely young men (as it's usually men) seeking community, and they find it in these people. You listen to Shapiro, Crowder, Molyneux and their messages are comforting: you are not at fault for the inadequacies you feel in your life, it's them (whoever 'them' is in the moment). If you listen to one of their videos, the algorithm matches you to more.

And it's designed to be easy to consume, easy to become addicted to the parasocial relationship.

It's kind of a little scary how easy it is to fall into that kind of a bubble of opinion reinforced by other opinion, which is what it is. It's why these videos are a comforting mishmash of essentially the same thing over and over.

That does not mean that they shouldn't be held unaccountable for what they say, or that they're the victims. One can walk and chew bubblegum at the same time; one can be both victim and victimiser. But there's an element of 'there but for the grace of god go I' to this stuff.
