As Cogs said there is too many better kids atm than Monteath but to say he is a soft outside reciever who jogs along behind play

...... would like to know where this opinion has come from actually.
He is an undersized key forward, converted into a flanker, who struggles in the midfield.
He is a very good mark for a kid his height. His foot skills are OK. He is not quick enough to play as an outside wingman/flanker. His only chance of getting picked up would be to become a genuine ball-winning onballer.
In the games I saw, there would be a bounce or stoppage, the ball would squirt out to the wing and a group of guys would sprint after it and fight to win it. Monteath would trail after then at a 3/4er jog and stand 5 metres off the pack waiting for the ball to be fed out.
When he rotated through HFF he was very hesitant to leave his position and go into the midfield to help win the ball at times he should have been doing so.
He ain't a natural midfielder and he doesn't have 1/10th of what he needs to be an AFL flanker.
