What's the download size on steam? I have CS:S etc if that makes a difference.

I got the full version of L4D2 today and yes, it's easily hackable. Just change one line in 2 text files. Google it to find out how but it's VERY easy. I'm just about to play online to check it.

There sure is gore. Zombies limbs go flying and they do stay around after being killed (although you can't hack them up further after being killed).

And cheers Borgsta for the backup. You're alright :D

Is anyone with the PC version having issues getting disconnected from servers almost immediately after joining? I have when using both censored and uncut versions.

Bought it this afternoon. It's awesome with gore on! I found advanced on the demo was moderately easy, not so in the full version, normal can be hard enough at times. Great game!

No, but steam wouldn't load for about an hour after I downloaded l4d2. Apparently heaps of other people have had the same issue.

The reality is that the ACB is trying to rate games according to its guidelines. Yes, we need an overhaul of the system and an R classification, but the focus for this review can’t be the framework that brought about the content, but the content itself. And that content is lacking. This game has been completely compromised and just isn’t that much fun to play. The original is a far superior experience.

If Valve was given more time – and the release date was delayed here – we’re positive it could have come up with a revised version of the game that conformed to the MA 15+ classification and was still compelling to play. Instead, we have a shoddy rush-job for sale that damages Valve’s reputation and insults the intelligence of Australian gamers. To be honest, we’d prefer no release of Left 4 Dead 2 than this release.

To be clear – if you can get your hands on an unedited version of this game, revise the score up to high 8s. If not, sit this one out.

4.0 Presentation
The presentation is completely compromised by the glitchy-looking edits. Kiss atmosphere goodbye.

4.0 Graphics
The graphics are completely compromised by the glitchy-looking edits. Nothing has weight or impact.

8.5 Sound
Your buddies have more personality this time around and the sound design is good.

5.0 Gameplay
There's still fun to be had, but in its edited form this is a massive step backwards from the original.

6.0 Lasting Appeal
If you can get over how compromised the atmosphere and gameplay are, there's plenty to keep you playing co-op and adversarial online.

OVERALL 5.0

They treated Valve unfairly, IMO.

You can't expect them to change the game so drastically for such a small audience in such a short amount of time.

I was watching a few videos of the unedited version before and it had me thinking; does the edit effect the gameplay at all? Strategically shooting of limbs looks like a huge part of the game as it alters the movement and abilities of the zombies, but you can't do that in the Aussie version.

Atkinson is such a twat.

They could have delayed the release of the Australian version. I wouldn't have bought the game if I didn;t know it were so easy to hack.

Finished the whole game playing with the uncensored version. Great game, heaps better than the first and heaps harder too. 8.5/10 from me.

Alright. So here is the letter that Mr Atkinson wrote to a Kotaku Australia reader about game censorship.

http://www.mediafire.com/?zdud1mzjufy

Just read this. That idiot claims that once the games are in the home they can't stop kids playing them.

Yet we have R 18+ DVDs available in the shops and online. Which are taken home. Where the government can't stop kids watching them.

It is ludicrous.

Did you pick up on his argument in the section about MA15+ games that are R18+ overseas? His view was "the parents should decide what's not acceptable for kids"...which totally contradicts his views about R18+ category not being able to be policed.

You thinking about joining Gamers4Croydon Chief?

Btw, Atkinson responded to Gamers4Croydon and just laughed at them. He said no one's going to vote for a bunch of people that are only there to get an R rating for video games. People like his views on real world issues or something.

Here's the quote actually.

South Australian Attorney-General Michael Atkinson has challenged critics of his stance against an R18+ rating for Video Games to run against him in March of 2010 when his seat of Croydon is contested.

In relation to the 18+ rating, Atkinson is quoted as saying, "I think you will find this issue has little traction with my constituents who are more concerned with real-life issues than home entertainment in imaginary worlds."

What a joke!

that shits me so much

he knows he's not going to be voted out over this issue and so he can then say that its obviously not very important

Grade A w***er

and chief, great idea

The second largest Australian website/forum giving their opinion on the matter is a good idea. It'll do more than those little websites trying to voice their opinion..... maybe.

What a joke!
What a knobhead.

He spends months fighting tooth and nail to prevent a R18+ rating passing through parliament and now he downplays it as a minor issue.

There's no way he's going to be voted out, but it's good that more and more pressure is being applied to him.

I hope he doesn't remove damage in Gran Turismo 5. ;)

Wouldn't surprise me. :p

That's it though. Why doesn't he ban racing games? His argument about the interactivity of games being more of a problem when compared to movies, has nothing at all to do with a rating system. Cars kill and hurt more people in Australia than guns. Kids can't drive until they're 18 and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is rated G. Where's his argument about that? He has none because everyone in Australia would laugh at him.

Well sadly that's true. Unless one of the two major parties adopt the opposing view you're stuck with it. And then even if they support one thing you like they'll probably have some policy you'll be equally pissed of with (see Labour's net filter). That's why this version of democracy that countries like us, USA, Brittain may be the best form of it but it's not infallible.

What gamers4croyden can do is raise awareness, and even take votes off Labour through preference options. If they look like costing him a fair share of votes you never know, pressure might come from above (the premier or even federal Labour seeing as though other labour parties aren't blocking it).

Getting bigfooty, along with perhaps whirlpool behind this could work. I would be willing to donate some money, I'm sure others would, if it goes towards something that would push this on to the national media's agenda. Rather than it being a side note in the paper next to the half arsed game reviews that rates everything ****.

Why do you continue to call it Labor's netfilter? It was the Libs that came up with the idea.
