Appears to no longer be best 22 at Geelong as others at the club have gone past him.

Will be interesting to see what he decides to do come year's end given he will be out of contract.

Could he end up at a 4th club next year and what would he be worth in a trade?

The knock on him at Carlton was that he was one of those players that unless he was 100% fit (or close) he wouldn't play.

Not seen to be a player who could 'push through' injury.

I liked him as a player and he was a genuine swingman so was sorry when he left.

Carlton made out like bandits in the trade to get him in to Geelong, acquiring McKay in the process.

He’d be in most best 22’s, but he’d be worth very little in a trade.

Then a year later Geelong made out like bandits in the Tuohy trade.

Still boggles the mind how Carlton got more for Henderson than they did for Tuohy.

Far too many thought Henderson was unfulfilled potential, and never considered how fragile and inconsistent he was. Always used to play well against good teams and then become invisible against any remotely decent side.

It certainly is frustrating Marchbank can’t get a game, and it’s not as though he was ever fully fit at GWS either. Had a big start in his time at Carlton in 2017, and since then has spent extended periods on the sidelines. Long-term, and pending fitness Marchbank should replace Plowman in defence.

Touhy has been good for Geelong though.

I don't think Henderson is done at Geelong.

With Blicavs playing key back we can only really afford to play one of Taylor and Henderson against most teams.

Harry had a much better pre season so got the nod but he is not the most durable conveyance nowadays.

Wouldn't be surprised if Taylor retires, Henderson gets a 1 year contract, and Geelong go forward without both of them in their 22.

Kolodjashnij, Henry, Blicavs
Stewart, Clark, Tuohy, Bews

As the core defensive group.

It was a complicated deal if it involved McKay ..the Henderson pick 17 ended up with Brisbane picking Berry

We will offer Henderson a one year deal for sure as we wouldn't want to lose both Harry and Henderson for next year. It's whether he takes it or not that will be the question and that will play out through the year. Hopefully the club hold firm at the selection table and pick the best side every week and don't get held to ransom by Henderson potentially leaving if he doesn't get picked as rumours were he was already restless heading into the season.

As with any of these things... Buyers and sellers... if another club came to him etc.. he may well be enticed but I suspect he will be happy to take the Cats offer if Taylor retires. Still will be good money ..its not like he is selling donuts at the beach.

But he is an example of someone who might have been traded if we had in season trading. Someone like Rich thru injury may suddenly be willing to trade for him to back up their season..and Geelong may be willing to move him as they have the role covered atm.

Problem with henderson is he is hopeless as a key defender so his best games are as a 3rd tall. Our whole team is a lot slower when he plays. Also shits the bed in finals. Still filthy with this trade tbh

Carlton got Geelong’s 2016 first rounder for Henderson. They straight swapped that for GWS’ 2015 pick 8, which after academy bids, became the pick 10 used to select McKay.

The Geelong pick went to Brisbane the next year, with GWS trading up for Taranto.

As I said complicated ... the Geelong pick was 17 .. or are you saying it was not 17 ?

Not really complicated for Carlton. They got Geelong’s 2016 first (pick 17) and traded it to GWS for their 2015 pick 8. What happened the following trading period hasn’t much to do with it

It was a complicated deal which Carlton did well out of .. and as you say .. the GWS traded it to Brisbane for a who care etc.

You are correct but I also am correct our pick was equal to Berry.. .. and from my pov it was Henderson rather than Berry... right now Berry would be handy on our list.
We could have traded and got McKay. This trade is a shocker for geelong either way

As mentioned another club may offer him a longer contract for more money and if he's still on the outer at Geelong by year's end then he may end up at a 4th club.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out, I mean who was the last player to play for 4 clubs, Ben Hudson?
