I want to dig up my posts from the off-season when I was laughed at for saying Lachie would be an amazing recruit.

Was close to AA at Carlton a couple of times when played as a defender - has been our best defender this season.

Cheers Carlton for pissing him off

There were a lot of us who felt he would be a gun recruit. Just needed time to get de-Carltonized is all.

The other one is Kolodjashnij, he and Henderson are working well together now. Those two are going to be our Taylor/Lonergan combo for the next 6 years holding down the fort.

He has been very good and is getting better each week. I heard on the radio last week that he was the player that Carlton players would talk to about issues at the club. He was part of the leadership group. But it sounds like he was someone who was very well respected, trusted and has great leadership qualities.
During the pre season at Geelong people mentioned that he was very vocal and a leader from his first day as well.

This qualities will compliment is role in the backline. The pick will probably be about right in the end as well. If Geelong have a big fail and the pick was a top 10 that'd be over. No doubt he will also get better working with former star defenders like Scarlett and Scott. As well as the current players he is learning from.

Just on this you could see him all night directing traffic it was great :)

I was totally wrong - said he was a dud - worse recruit since Mitchell White i think i said at the time

Happy to be wrong though - he must not have had his heart in at Carlton

You and me both.

he's pretty much matched Dangerfield for impact at this stage of the season.

showed some guts too; copped a heavy knock in the 3rd quarter, ran around a bit dazed for a minute and then back in to it.

loved his goal.
I think so far all 3 of our recruited quartet have had a significant impact.
How good is it seeing this 206 cm coordinated ruckman dominating today, but also capable of ground play and goals.
Danger is Danger.
And Hendo- just love him, and every now and again, he does sneak forward and remind us he is potentially one of the elite swing players in the comp...

Take those three out of the team and we would really struggle now I would think. They have become essential very quickly.
If we can get Scooter up and about, this would have to be possibly the greatest recruiting coup in the modern Era - was it 2 first rounds, a second round and 3 vfl players?

We would not have beaten Hawthorn or GWS it would appear.
I agree.
That's why I was so looking forward to this season compared to other recent seasons, thinking that by now we would have had Clark and Vardy also competing for CHF.
But you can't have everything all at once.

First, second and Gore for Danger.
Two third's for Smith (one of them came from Adelaide with Danger).
Future first for Henderson.
Scooter was free.
Walker and Jansen were traded for a future third from Brisbane so have that to use this year.

I was a big fan of getting him and have long said I see him as the Doms replacement with an upgrade on foot skills.

His job on Tex a few weeks back when Doms went down showed me he can play that role if and when he has too... but god he is a handy 3rd tall, I reckon he has taken over the role of intercept marker from Harry.

And he doesn't have lazy disposal like Harry.

Braver and tougher than I thought... has fit in quicker than I thought as well.

Maybe the tradition of players leaving the Blues and improving is continuing?
