Cannot believe Selwood got in ahead of Neale the stats don't lie. The only stat that Selwood won was the free kick count.

I have checked the leaders for disposals for each year back to 2010 (NB: totals and averages are for the whole year, couldn't easily split Home & Away out from finals without a fair bit of extra work).
Every leader by both total and average was also selected in the All Australian team for that year ... except for Neale.
Over the 7 years, there were 30 players who were in the top 3 for disposal totals or averages.
Out of those 30 only the following 6 players did NOT make the AA team for that year;
2016 L.Neale (FR) ranked 1 for total disposals and averages
2015 J.Kennedy (SY) ranked 3rd for total disposals and 2nd for averages.
2014 L.Parker (SY) ranked 3rd for total and 24th for averages.
2012 M.Boyd (WB) ranked 4th for total and 3rd for averages.
2011 S.Thompson (AD) ranked 6th for total and 3rd for averages.
2010 M.Boyd (WB) ranked 5th for total and 3rd for averages.

Geelong have had a succession of over rated players over the years in the AA team. Helps to have tame selectors.
Nah, the disgrace was Nick Riewoldt missing out on the squad. That was a disgrace. Two youngs mids who got a heap of the ball but ultimately weren't that damaging missing out is unlucky but by no means is it a disgrace.

Most score assists as well. Face it he had an AA quality season.
Should have been Tanner Smith then, he averaged the most goal assists per game in the AFL by 0.7 per game. He was 2, next best was 1.3
My bet is on Jackovich being the only one that wanted him on the team because he would have probably been the only one that bothered to watch most of our games.

Pretty harsh for him to not make the team off his disposal efficiency when most of the mids in the team had worst disposal efficiency too.
He had 80 clangers, which is less than Hannebery, Selwood and Dangerfield. Also Parker had 79, Josh Kennedy had 71 and Sloane had 70 (and he had way way more disposals in total than those guys, and more clearances than anyone bar Kennedy).

Yeah but you get the ball that many times you are going to burn some but as someone has already posted, his disposal eff was 73% across the season.
