But can he run fast (not Daniel Cross speed) ..... and can he actually kick the ball with accuracy (not Matthew Boyd style).

We have plenty of inside players now and unfortunately some are slowing down and most of them simply dont have damaging foot skills.

I think I rate him a bit higher then most, more as a forward then midfielder and could see him carving out a career as a small/med forward. He's not quick but he isnt notably slow either, nor is he a noticably poor kick, it isnt a weapon but there wont be any Clay Smith type nightmares.

Onto his positives, he's a natural footballer, very good reader of the play and gets into the rights spots at the right times, whether thats to crumb a footy, receive a handball. Nice overhead mark for his size and just from watching in play I'd say his leap is reasonably above average, testing will be interesting but he is a competent aerialist. He is good in traffic, not in the sense that he can burst through a pack but he has that Sam Mitchell step and uses it well, whether it to release a handball or snap out a kick. Up forward he looks a definite goal poacher, uses his smarts well, whether on the lead or picking up a loose footy, he has the goal sense of a natural forward for mine. He takes his turn through the middle but I like him forward of the play.

I wouldnt be paying overs for him but I think that he has enough tools to warrant being picked up and potentially carve out a solid career.

So a good forward, goal kicker, part time mid fielder, we'll recruit him and he'll spend his entire career in the back pocket or ruck and the coaches will complain that he hasn't shown the promise he showed prior to being recruited.

Make that 6
It appears Oliver Wines and Jake Stringer also played for Bendigo yet the team still got whipped, as these 2 are likely to be Bulldog players next year do you know how they went?

Surprising result as the Western Jets zone/allocation of kids tends to be poorer than that of Bendigo's.

Sounds like Hunter is lot like his dad. You wouldn't have described him as super quick or slow. Just a great hard working player.

The talk had me believing that Hunter wasnt playing well. Looking at the stats, for the Western Jets he has played 7 matches, averaged 27 disposals and has kicked 12 goals. Averaged 15.5 disposals for Vic Metro.
Seems pretty good to me...
Hasnt got on the park as much as he would like but that seems his major problem.

Agree totally. Definitely worth a 3rd round pick, if we are forced to use it. If we got him for a rookie selection or last pick it would be a bargain.

I think he is playing school footy which means he can't play all TAC cup games. Someone else will have to fill us in about that because I'm not 100% sure.

Reckon we could get him for a fourth rounder. Don't believe any team will bid a second rounder for him and teams below us shouldn't be interested in him.

Pick him up with our last pick. To make room... PLEASE get rid of DJ

I just had a look at the stats for last weeks Jets game. I hope Hunter hasn't increased his draft value too much - 29 disposals at 80% efficency 5 tackles 10 marks and 6 goals!

Interesting to see that Wines who a few Dogs fans are keen on with pick 5 or 6 had 14 innefective kicks.
No thanks. I know who I'd prefer based on that game.

Impressive numbers. He's not super highly rated so if he falls to the fourth round then that'd be ideal.

Can't judge them on 1 game though.

BTW, just think how good Wines must be - if half of his kicks were ineffective and he was still rated second best on ground...

i still reckon bulldogs told him to play semi poorly so we could get him with a lower pick.
kretiuk is the coach of the jets so i wouldnt be surprised.

To be honest I couldn't care less how good he is if half of his kicks are ineffective, our team has no trouble winning the ball but the way we use it is disgraceful. Will not be happy at all if we pick up Wines (not saying he is not a great player, he would be perfect for a team who needs him but hes not the right fit for us)

Just my 2 cents anyway.
