I remember Ted Jnr being pretty good in 1976 when we snuck into the finals (recalling that between 1962 and 1984 inclusive, we only made the finals twice).
Speaking of Ted Jnr and 1976, we only just snuck into the finals, with a draw in the last round to then top team Carlton, at Princes Park.
We had a few other things go our way during that season, including an after the siren shot from Alan Stoneham on a feezing windy day at Waverley by Alan Stoneham from a very acute angle which he drilled, giving us a winning score with only 4 goals, against Fitzroy, who scored 3 goals.
One other lucky thing was a lucky bounce of the ball from Ted Jnr himself. It was a game against St Kilda at the Western Oval, and scores were pretty much tied up at 3/4 time, but St Kilda had the breeze in the last quarter.
Kicking to the Geelong rd end, from a stoppage about 45m out, Ted jnr has grabbed the footy and whacked it on his boot, heading towards the behind post, but it has taken an almighty off break and dribbled through the goals, we fell over the line that day by 3 pts.
