He's a good player, who has played well at TAC level. Can play insiide and also can receive and spread. Not a great kick and unfortunately not real quick.

I think if he wasn't father son he could still be drafted on merit.

Would only be a 3rd or 4th rounder though.

Hunter isn't worth much for mine. As I stated in the other thread if a club bids on him in the 1st or 2nd round we should pass and let them have him. There are better players that will be available around that mark and we should not just draft someone for sentimental purposes. In saying that I think we will get him in one of the later rounds. Whether he makes it or not is questionable.

My sons friend (ex Western Jets) has played on him and said he is not much chop, and also pretty arrogant:eek:Could improve, but I think we will easily get him for a third round pick - if at all.

Not always a huge indication. I've a div 3 reserves player but I've played on some players who now play VFL reserves and completely shut them out of games.

I know someone who tagged Scully and held him to 2 touches in a half of footy after he got 20 in the first half and we all know what happened there.

Well the strategy is clear. Grab him at the appropriate pick based on who else is out there and only take him if you can get him for that pick. Sounds to me that he's not a first round choice, Melbourne, GWS and GC would have to nominate a first rounder for him for us to have to use a first round. Then other teams above us have to nominate their first round for us to have to use a second round. I reckon we'll get him with a 3rd or 4th round.

Played 2 matches of TAC cup since then and 1 school match, quiet in all of them. Increasingly likely he wont be picked up.
I hear that we can pick up F/S's in the rookie draft.

Yep, rules got changed recently. I think it's pretty likely we'll take him.

I could handle him as a F/S rookie pick if he's still around not sure I want to commit a 3rd or 4th round draft pick in case there's someone better?

He made the Vic Metro team, so he must be able to play, reckon he is keeping his profile down - knows he will get picked up by us, so no point standing out?

No way he is keeping his profile down. If he played really well and was worth a 1st or 2nd rounder and another club bidded on him then we would probably take him. I don't think the club would be telling a kid to not play well at the championships. He just isn't as good as people have thought. Probably a 4th rounder at this stage. I think a lot of people just like the romance of it all because he is a father-son.

Would be good if we can pick him up as a rookie.

There is no romance in father and son players if we take them with a better pick than warranted. Just pick him up at the pick he is worth...

The last thing we need is to waste picks this draft

I agree we have to be pragmatic about it - but it's not an exact science (deciding the exact ranking of a player amongst his peers), especailly past pick 20 or so, a tiny bit of romance remains.

Not sure if Hunter really isn't going to make it or we're just getting really good at talking down our future father sons so nobody bids on them.

I hope that's the case.

Not sure how a player can fall so far in the draft after a few poor games.

I'd like to see him picked up. Obviously not at the expense of losing a better player though.

Yeah well Geelong passed up on Paul Couch's son, he went to Melbourne so obviously Geelong didn't rate him! I was actually surprised by this as Couch was a gun!

My brother knows Couch, and apparently he's got a few tickets on himself. Says he's always been a bit of a w***er, so I guess that could come into it.

Paul?

Complete knob.

The main reason Leigh Colbert left Geelong.
