Can't judge them on 1 game though.

BTW, just think how good Wines must be - if half of his kicks were ineffective and he was still rated second best on ground...

...More than 2/3rds of Wines kicks were ineffective 14 out of 20.
And I think the bests are by team, not for the whole game.
If you look at the full stat sheet, not a lot going on at all for Bendigo.

I just had a look at the stats for last weeks Jets game. I hope Hunter hasn't increased his draft value too much - 29 disposals at 80% efficency 5 tackles 10 marks and 6 goals!

Interesting to see that Wines who a few Dogs fans are keen on with pick 5 or 6 had 14 innefective kicks.
No thanks. I know who I'd prefer based on that game.

The National Carnival is the main place people look to when judging draftees, I'm guessing Stringer and Wines had good carnivals. Although we dont want to make a mistake and draft someone like watts, just because he tore the carnival to shreds (meaning no offence to jack watts).

i still reckon bulldogs told him to play semi poorly so we could get him with a lower pick.

So you think Hunter is an altruistic type? I don't think so. He would be wanting to impress as many people as he can and failed miserably at the national championships. I was starting to question whether he was still worth being a father-son selection. He isn't worth a top pick anyway. Right now he is probably a 4th rounder IMO.

So you think the club is going to tell him at the draft combine too?

It's not the club 'requesting' him to play poorly. Hunter was talked up to be better than he has performed.

I read from many observers that the carnival is a disgrace to footy, the players just play for themselves (understandably, to impress recruiters) and there is little team effort/selfless play. Perhaps Lachie would be better in a team environment.

It will be interesting to see what his stats are like at the national combine. From what i've read on here players are only picked for the national combine based on 3-4 clubs at a minimum wanting to have a look at him, he must be doing something right to be picked for that and not just the state combine.

Correct, but maybe F/S prospects get a free pass.

To get an invitation to the National Draft Combine, a player must get more than four votes from AFL recruiters who sit down and work out who they want to attend. If you only get one or two votes, you'll only attend a state screening.

Might have to part with our 2nd round pick to get him now. But the signs are that he could be worth it.
Highly doubt that, I think the worst case is that someone may bid for him in the mid-late 2nd round and force us to use a third rounder, but 4th round is still the most probable

I've only seen him once and don't know much about the upcoming players so how does he rate against the rest of the draft class?

He was rated very highly early on and I've heard he's carrying an injury which has effected his output this year.

I tweeted Emma Quayle sum time ago where she thought he'd go, she said 2nd or 3rd but too soon to tell

Read in the local rag he's been playing as pretty much a full time forward becuase he's contracted a touch of OP, been largely unable to train

If we didn't pick this kid up there is something wrong with our club.

Yes we have too many inside midfielders but we also lack players who can kick goals and by the looks of it not only can Lachie rack up plenty of possessions he also knows how to kick a goal.

Completely agree, I think he could be our next Gia, small forward who loves to kick a goal, and can even kick a bag of them but also have a run through the middle and add some rotation.

Why is that?
Any player who is putting a couple of BOGs together at this time of the year will demand more attention by prospective recruiters, particularly if he can kick goals as well as play in the midfield. I hope we can get him for a later pick but there's no doubt his star is rising.

GWS, GC or Melbourne would have to use a second round pick to force us to use our second rounder to get Hunter. Not very likely.

Or any club use their first round pick.

For teams like Collingwood/Adelaide/Hawks/Sydney though it'll be a around pick 16-20.

Very unlikely but still possible.
