I think it also depends on how Witts is progressing in the VFL. If he begins to dominate (or at least perform well in the ruck) then he will definitely earn games throughout the season.
Although I think it is still another development year for the big fella.
He is still very young & green, needs to learn more about the craft, how to use his bulk, take more grabs, learn where to run etc. No rush in my opinion, a pie in the oven on slow bake.
Where as Grundy is the instant TV dinner from the microwave.

Did you just compare Grundy to a TV dinner?

MML's analogy is perfect in one aspect of its context. It's a slow cooking oven v a microwave, though also a pie v a microwave meal. Personally I'd wait longer for the pie. Is there something more upmarket that can be microwaved? MML?:p

Not up market per se but Richmond memberships I've heard have a natural affinity with microwaves or is that natural enemies?;):D

Yes but they order spittle pie with a side of chook poo when dining out.

Elimination final/ Had no direct goals kicked on him.
Round 23/ kept Tarrant goaless
Round 22/ was he on Lycett when he kick the goal? Keeffe had no direct goals on him.
Round 21/ Had 1 direct goal scored on him by Buddy
Round 20/ had 1 direct goal scored on him by Tippet, kept white goaless while on him
Round 19/ was gumbletons 1 goal on Keeffe? If not Keeffe had 1 direct goal kicked on him
Round 18/ Cameron kicked 2 on him in 3 quarters
Round 17/ brennan kicked 1 direct goal on Keeffe, thats all i know of

He's my tip for the player who will have a breakout year. Will be the biggest improver on the list of those who were in the seniors last year.

It's easy to forget he came from a Soccer background and hasn't been playing the game all that long, huge upside

The sole reason why we would even consider keeping Reid at CHF.

Going off the pics he looks in the best shape I've seen him since being at the club.

Keeffe has shown what he can do as a key backman. He has improved in every one of the few games he has played, particularly in the one on one skills. He is a far better rebounding defender than many give him credit for. His kicking is low, fast and accurate. He seems to take a little too much time as he lines up his passes, but in this he is very similar to Birchall, generally regarded as an exemplar of the rebound defender. He does not, by habit, bomb the ball out of defence. All in all, there is very little to dislike in his defender's credentials.
As a ruckman, the opposite is true. He has tried the position and contributed little. Only his height tempts us to place him there.
As a forward, he has not shown much. His stints up there have produced few goals, and little distraction for defenders. Experience may improve his standing there, but at present, we have better options.
I believe that he can contribute as much as a key defender as Reid, but nothing like as much as a forward. They choose themselves for their positions.

Keefe is a better defender than Brown and since both of them provide nothing on the rebound you are actually creating or further exposing a limitation to our defense that we don't really want.

Our crap defensive rebound was close to the biggest structural problem with the team in 2013. Most of the blame should go with the medium and little defenders but having tall defenders who offer nothing on the rebound doesn't help. Additionally that we have one of the best rebounding tall defenders in the comp and elect to not play him in that position is not very good imo.

So you keep saying but that doesn't necessarily make it fact, just your opinion. Different isn't necessarily better.

Our "crap" rebound in 2013 wasn't something that you can simply lay at the feet of the defensive 6 while completely dismissing the lack of 2-way running by our midfield and forwards. Just way too simplistic. And for a team with such "crap" rebound capacity, we still generated more scoring shots than any other team in 2013 unless I'm mistaken.

And lets not forget that we're hypothersising about 4x KPD prospects (Reid, Brown, Keeffe, Frost) who have all played less than 100 games, Keeffe and Frost still well short of 50, and Keeffe and Brown with season ending knee injuries.

Without including those players yet to debut I'm opting for the boxed trifector of Keeffe, Thomas, Williams. Like to squeeze Oxley in but it's a tough field.

This!
Does not have any of the skills for this role, keep him where he is comfortable and cancontinue his comeback from the knee injury.

Hasn't displayed skills because he hasn't had time to learn them. Seriously think this kid could be developed into whatever he sets his mind to.

I've occasionally dropped the line 'he should be played in the midfield were he's played the most' with no bites at all.

Ok, I'll bite. What a ridiculous post! :p

Keep reminding myself that Lachy has played only 20 plus senior games. Agree with others that he is one of our most outstanding prospects, and defence is his natural habitat, or at least it has been to now. Could be AA very soon, if not this year. Saw him at training on Friday and he is looking superb; also very lively and vocal. One of Hine's true specials.

If Lachy had not done his knee he would be AA already,he was close to the best KPD in 2012 before he got hurt.It is fantastic to hear he is making such a rapid recovery from his injury and I think he will become a leader in time at the club and he is exactly the sort of bloke we need at the club.:thumbsu:

Whoever spotted Keeffey did a great job there is not many 204 cm blokes around who move as well as he does and with good skills into the bargain the club scored a keeper when was drafted.
