Or they could have not offered a trigger so the decision is purely theirs ay the end of the season, nobody else was going to swoop in and sign him.
The trigger does not make it any more or less "their decision". A sober assessment of Smith's form was all that was needed to avoid this. We also can't know if he had other offers but the fact they offered a sweetner might imply there was some competition there.

Not sure about that, telling we signed McAndrew before ROB
But I still hope Draper isn’t a ROB replacement, as such
I believe him to be AFL level....now that of course is quite a spectrum, but he can play!

Good on him, looks a talent but only a backup. He has replaced Strawny. At 25 will he make a difference?

Yes from memory he was very competitive. Not sure what that says about him or more about ROB in internal trials.
The footy dept must see something in his ability. He was very competitive against Reilly in the pre-season. It will be interesting to see his development from here.

I agree but it’s no long term solution and as we are competing for finals for a few years to come, we need a ruckman that can make us better.

Davis mentioned today that McAndrew's performances have brought the best out of ROB.
ROB has had a far better season, particularly of late... so may have a point now that he has decent competition... though should be self-motivated & never get comfortable.

About as good of an outcome as you can expect if you're McAndrew.
Yes, he's gone from joining an SANFL club, to getting three years on an AFL list, basically over the course of a pre-season. Good on him.
