We could've had Stewart.

He would sure be handy for us atm.

Because Hine was not sure what Picks we would of Had because Dawes and Wellingham had asked to be Traded.

Keeffe's brain fart and Reid's inability to get on the field has really exaggerated the issue. I wouldn't argue with the idea of throwing some of our war chest at a KPP over a midfielder come seasons end.

Don't think Keefe has ever shown promise up forward. They would have been fools to believe he could make it as a forward.

How do we get Cameron?

and he will get De-Listed very soon

We can't count on Cox for anything right now. If he comes on its a bonus.
IF he is next in Line then we are in Real Trouble

Never said Cox was the one we should be relying on, just that he shouldn't be discounted as a forward option, albeit I agree he's a speculative pick, which I hinted at in my post.

Looking at our list though with Moore and Reid currently injured and Keeffe ASADAed aside from Gault or plucking Marsh from defence Cox is the only option left. I reckon he's got more talent and scope to be a star than Gault, but he's also more likely not to be on our list in 2 years time.

In terms of bringing other kpf options trading for anything other than a role player will cost the house both in terms of their contract and players/picks needed to get the deal done. Free agency is nice, but unlikely unless we offer a once in a lifetime contract. That leaves the draft, which is a matter of having a high enough pick at the right time and hoping an unknown talent comes on as predicted.

I was thinking more broadly to key position depth, forward and back. We now have issues forward and back.

That was a bit of spin by Hine, Dave.
We could of nominated him and seen where the cards fell then made a call, the fact we didn't suggests Hine just didn't rate him.

He can be a okay 2nd or 3rd Tall Forward that can go into the Ruck

We aren't trading for one that's something you can be certain of following Lynch and White.

With Reid perennially injured, Keeffe gone, White entering the final year of a bloated contract in 2016 and Gault a rookie you would think that we will surely use at least our first two picks come draft day on KPF's.

No matter which way you cut it the talent we've brought in will only take us so far if we can't find at least one further KPF capable of kicking 50+ a season.

Potentially we have mid-fielders galore.
Moore is certainly a potential KPP, but we need someone ready made for FF.
Cloke should have always been a CHF. He is a different player when he swing on that arc from outside 50...Avoid set shots like the plague.

Reid was drafted as a forward who had the goal kicking yips, went back became AA then sent forward due to a lack of options with fairly good results.
Club now saying Reid will return to defence for the immediate future when he finally breaks his injury curse.

When Moore returns it should be to play permanent fwd.
It will not only be his best position for our list but also added benefit of finally giving our developiing vfl mids something to kick too. Severe lack of fwd structure in the vfl if you read most reports.

True he was drafted as a forward, but it would have been thought he wa not for that role in the end, even though he has proven he may be.
If that makes sense.
Cloke has been our only legit KPF for a few years now...and that's debatable after last night.

I'm probably still just really pissed at those two "crucial match defining" misses....it's not the end of the world....but $800,000.00 pa ????? Jeezuz H Christ....WTF

Three Vic clubs are into Spencer White you'd think Carlton are one Collingwood could be in the hunt??

As mentioned, we chose Freeman rather than McCarthy in 2013 draft and blew a big chance to augment our KPF stocks. Bad move. Freeman is currently not looking a top 10 pick and McCarthy is coming along very nicely.

Only problem is that McCarthy is more your second tall forward rather than your primary KPF - I reckon he projects as more of a mobile Jack Darling / Jack Gunston type, as opposed to a true KPF prospect (ala Kennedy / Roughead if we're following the WCE / Hawks theme here).

If we had him we'd definitely have the second tall forward spot locked down, but we'd still be short that true KPF that we'll need once Clokey hangs up the boots.

Jeez I wish we'd been able to lure Jeremy Cameron.

What KPFs around the league are available at the end of the year? Think it has to be our top priority now, trade or draft, or honestly given our crap depth in this position, do both.

Well Cameron just Re-Signed for 5 Years

I'd take him over Freeman. It's ironic that GWS took McCarthy when they already had several quality talls. They no doubt knew the worth of a good big man as a trade. His frame is probably light for a CHF. Still we could use a Gunston type.

We definitely could use a mobile second tall forward type - the problem we have is none of the guys we've tried have worked out, but having said that there aren't actually many teams that have a quality second tall forward at their disposal either.

I reckon we need to think a bit laterally here when there aren't any obvious KPF's around that we'd A) really want and B) be able to grab without losing our shirt in the process and go for someone like Hoskin-Elliott (if we can get him) with the aim of grooming him as more of a Breust type (as a medium half-forward) to compliment what we've already got in Cloke / Elliott.

A move like that might take the pressure off that second tall forward to hit the scoreboard regularly for the next few years until we can acquire our next KPF prospect, either via trade or through the draft.
