Is it lack of depth or a selection mistake by picking players that have not played in more than a month. e.g. S Johnson, Enright, Ottens, Playfair and King have all looked underdone and been unable to play full games. If we were going to loose the last 2 games I would have prefered to have done it by trying some other players on the list.

Steve Johnson in particular looks like a fish out of water and appears not to be trying. But that's just his demeanor when he is struggling and its not a good look for the rest of the team. Would have like to see him play at least 2 in the reserves.

Well there's an obvious lack of depth with the talls at the club. I mean, playing Gardiner at CHF a few weeks back is an exemplification of that.

Besides talls, I think that our depth is slightly overstated. It would have been wise to keep players like Moloney and Carrazzo at the club, as opposed to the venturesome trade of Ottens. Would we really be any worse than 10-8 with Moloney instead of Ottens at the club, and Carrazzo who has been playing well for the blues around for depth as well?

In hindsight I think Nathan Thompson as a forward would have been a better option than Ottens, who is primarily a ruckman. Obviously the club thought that we were in for a chance this year, so they opted for a quick-fix in Ottens. We would have otherwise simply waited for Nathan Ablett and Jack Hawkins to come along, which wryly is around when Nathan Thompson would retire. I don't know if Ottens has much more to offer than what we have seen already.

Get off Brad Ottens back! He has way more to offer the club than Moloney. Do you guys ever give up. It was something that had to be done.

The way alot of you people treat him, he will think he is back at tigerland! Give the guy a break. He has already won us the game against Port Adelaide early in the year. I did'nt hear any of you talking about how bad of a trade he was after that game. Pull your head out of your ar$e!

I agree
And who cares what might have been anyway, we did well to get him and he is a good player.
Do you think he has a lot to offer now that King and Chambers are now both injured. I think so.

Listen, I respect that and this the first time that I've publicly said anything negative about Ottens, but we really shouldn't be in this position.

We're stuggling on field, our forward line isn't producing, which is what Ottens came over to help and suddenly our midfield are playing like a rabble and certainly Moloney, being the style of player that he is would have helped greatly the past few weeks. Carrazzo as well it seems.

I'm not having a go at Ottens, just vocalising what anyone to do with Geelong would or should be thinking, which is that we shouldn't be playing as bad as we are.

We had more forward 50 entries than Essendon so they must be going ok and up until recently we had the most points scored for. (i may stand corrected on that)
I also hear the flu has been going through the club that may effect things i dont know, but people are so quick to critisize. How about saying at least it was good Otto was back playing and King rucked well. Look for positives negatives do nothing.

What going on Jack , I think you make a bit sense. Although Id think the limted numbers on all lists, not just ours, SC etc. mean that depth is a mirage. When in the past we have played young inexperienced sides we have had our clocks cleaned as well.To bring these guys back at the same time , mmm, it gives me this feeling that there's a bit of straw grasping going on.
S.Johnson looks way off his best, the lack of preseasons is catching up with him and having Enright and Ottens back provided little.Harley has hurt us, our strength has been built from the back but we have neglected training/finding an A1 back up and this year the chickens have come home to roost.Egan has done well, for a guy who has played as little as he, he is quite brave has but he has been no replacement. King has had another season from hell, Ottens covered him for some time but when King ,Ottens and Chambers all go down we really are up the proverbal creek.Sanderson looks like he has hit the wall and Wojo / D.Johnson / Callan his natural replacements go down we loose that glue that binded the BL.The the Killer happens, our big find Playfair gets crunched in the mouth and McCarthy comes in and gos out just as quickly. Ottens gets fatigue groin, probably covering King, Gardiner,Mackie and Haynes go missing. Suddenly our side starts to look like Fairly Floss. Its there but not really.

The fact is if we had legit backups(again not many clubs would have this) to our CHF and CHB we were always going to do it tough. If these guys were firing the a guys like Prismall might have been called on ro we might have give a rookie a go.

If we going to look at depth , let me ask a question. What position will we need to find in 3-4 years? Id say we will need an extra ruckman and possibly 3 out of 4 KP.Thats a tough get considering there the hardest to fill, so lets hope that we can get our stuff together or may find that our era has a very small window

Our selection panal has been known for putting under-done players in, but at the moment who else could we have put in?? Seriously?? And i think that shows we do have depth in areas put when we have more than say 4 injuries at a time we are struggling as most back-up players have only played less than 50 games with the exeption of rahilly who in my opinion deserved to be in the team.

Carrazo would have been very very handy this year, but there must have been a reason why he left, and we all know why that was so we cant say he should have stayed because i dont think anyone her could have predicted how big the injury toll hit us
