Hawks are playing very well and the Lions are undermanned and have struggled a bit at Gabba

However with top 4 on the line I struggle to see the Lions losing this
Which means we need the Temu magpies to beat the Suns this week. Or we beat Dees by 10+ goals to try and make the percentage gap hard for them to reach

Hope we are not relying on percentage. GC have had some big wins at home and Bombers have had some big losses. Not only have we lost 5 of 6 but win over Tigers was 6 goals where as GC beat them the week after by 14 goals. Looking like this will also be very costly.

I can't believe we have messed this H&A season up so bad...

We never put teams to the sword. They are always in the game half way through the 3rd quarter or later. Our top 6 competitors all had 70-90 point wins in the last few weeks, we could only must a 6 goal win against a terrible side.

Now we may finish 5th and face having to travel to QLD for an elimination final in week 2.

Still reckon Suns will choke against Port. Wines suspension a setback though

GC lost to Adel by 10 goals and Coll lost Adel by 3 points which is as poor a basis of analyzing relative form, as your rationale above comparing both teams results against the Tigers.

We are still leading GC and Hawthorn on percentage though, and we are also playing a team that has checked out. So to some extent our fate is still in our hands. A big win against Melbourne might be enough, and it isn’t it isn’t.

edit…. Gold Coast will have to “ outwin” us by a net margin of about 6 goals in their two games. Whilst that’s not a lot, obviously the bigger margin we beat Melbourne by the higher their hurdle is .

True there are many examples like Brisbane as well who GC thrashed. The Richmond one though is the one that stand outs as it is a poor team who we should have beaten by a lot more.

If our form continues to be poor next week and assuming we get the win, we have no chance as a top 4 side.
We certainly ain’t playing like one.
I would almost rather us finish 5th, hopefully have a really nice win first up and go the long way with form behind us.
A pounding at Adelaide in the first final does nothing for us.

The problem with this is if we finish 5th with Brisbane beating Hawks we are almost certain to be playing Hawks in Elimination

It’s likely if we finish 5th, we will face hawthorn week 1.

That’s ok, a big win against the Hawks does more than a loss in Adelaide.
Although everyone is a chance on their day, Adelaide I felt were off last night.
Matty Nicks said the same thing.

There are teams I would rather avoid in finals except for GF day when anything can happen.

You say never put teams to the sword. I'll raise you 0/5: gold coast, Freo, Brisbane, Hawthorn, Adelaide. We have ourselves to blame.

The guy said his happy to play finals after we were in the 4 by like 12 points. Not making the 4 would be a failure.
I agree when you say that in isolation but when you put it in perspective we couldn't beat one of Gold coast, Freo, Brisbane, Hawthorn or Adelaide. 0/5 is what cost us top 4. This isn't just poor luck that we still aren't on top.

Hard to make the GF. Need to get past our bunny teams Hawthorn, GC and Geelong

A big win against the Hawks and we travel to QLD probably in week 2 for elimination.

A big loss against the Crows in week one and we don't leave the MCG again through to the GF if we make it.

Does anybody seriously think we will comfortably beat Melbourne?
When did that last happen?
We kicked 9 goals last week and have a shortened break.
I’m expecting a 10 point win at best sadly.
Stuffed up the Freo game…
Anyway 🤞

Round 24 last season we beat them by 10+ goals.
