Nice post Golddust.

Ward isnt ours to trade any more unfortunately. A certainty for GWS. He was yours to trade though a few years back.....Man that McMahon trade is infamous.

Roughead's off limits.

Thought Roos made some interesting comments about you guys on Monday night. He suggested trading for some mature aged players. Asked the question how long you can wait for the team to develop.

Lake's obviously not the guy, but think the Tiges would be wise to pull in some ready made talent.

Cheers buddy!

I would think, if we're in the amrket for ready-mades, a ruckman is the number one priority, followed by a key defender.
Trading for a ruckman would be no surprise and it seems to be the way a lot of clubs go these days.
I would think we need to be patient and let the talent we have develop and come on. Trouble being, to get something decent you need to give smething up, and we don't have much to give up, even less we want to give away (eg. Riewoldt, Cotchin, Martin, Deledio).

:eek:Callan Ward - Jordan McMahon. Yep, haunt us for a long time, though it's pretty common knowledge that we would have taken Scott Selwood and not Callan Ward with that pick.

Yes I saw what Roos said and I agreed .. But the only thing I would be worried about is if we give up Post and he turns out turns out to be a very good player we will be kicking our selves.

Lake would have to prove himself I'm the last few games and have him train with us for a week or two before we made a complete judgment on him..

But it proves we are developing when opposition not you my friend asks about Post ... So if we were to trade it would have to be a win win not a win and possible win ... If that makes sense

Have to agree with you that trading for a ready-made ruckman would have to be our number 1 priority. Although I don't think a KPD should be our second priority. Obviously we have had a lot of injuries and a few suspensions in that position this year but next year I have high hopes.

If our players remain relatively injury free next year we could have the luxury of choosing from:
Astbury, Grimes, Moore (unlikely), Post, Rance or Thursfield.

We could only take about 3-4 of them into a match.

I believe a hard defensive ready made midfielder should be our 2nd priority as it is a player we currently are short of.

Most importantly, this would mean less opposition inside 50's which would IMO be more useful for our defence than another KPD.

THINK you can disregard most of the comments here, buddy. Lake, in his prime, and just below it is a significant upgrade on any key defender to have plied their trade with the Tigers in the last decade.
He might be shy of Scarlett, but seriously, comparing him to the likes of McGuane, Thursfield, Moore, Astbury, Post etc. is a joke. At least Astbury and Post have time on their side.
Lake was and probably will be a damn fine player again.
But it won't be at Tigerland...too old a player for what we are looking for and comes with risks we don't need!

good post and i agree.

just on the age thing hes definately not too old. we lack for mature players of quality. its age combined with price that would be the killer.

the dogs have two older players i would love to see at richmond in the short term. one is lake and the other is hudson who has just retired. the thing is i would want both very cheaply. i woul;d also insist if we got both we had players of their type in our system to step up when these went. ie vickery to take over from hudson in two yrs and we have another young kid of high promise that we need to take in the nd.. ditto with lake i dont think rance the answer and id like a young frawley or brown type in our system while lake is about.

4 nd picks 1 psd pick 3 rookie picks and two or three mature players. something along these lines woukld allow us to turn over 8 or so from the list proper, something that needs to be done. and take 3 or 4 rookies.

for me i dont have a worry taking some mature players just so long as we continue to take our fair share of kids and we utilise our early picks on young players.
i also think there is riches to had from the minor leagues that we should not ignore.

and for those who ask i believe post is contracted until the end of 2012.

as far as i know theres 13 uncontracted players on the list. they read as such. astbury, dea, griffiths, browne, rance, newman all who would have to be safe, and taylor, farmer, jackson, nason, webberley, morton, and nahas.

Roos is speaking with a Swans tongue probably just like the old news conferences. Probably worried, the Tigerland juggernaut is running a little to well going down the youth path which Swannies crowds cant afford to go for his liking.

So sad for Roosy, but Roosy should know Tigers look after number 1 these days , that is Tigerland and that is the future and the future target is premiership here we come, no short cuts!!!!:):thumbsu:
