THATS THE JOKE!

But yeah, I think our armchair ride is overstated a little.

Will you recisit this opinion if lake gets 4-6 weeks?

i take it back, you don't get an armchair ride, he got his just desserts. on the light side but still within a reasonable range.

A month of Cheney should be good for the lol's

Im upset but I think the only game we will miss him for is the Swans one and with any luck Tippett's mystery ailment lingers and evens the score. If I were to take a glass half full mentality to the whole sordid affair its that Lake will be fresh for our run home. Plus we can bring McEvoy back in the team now without having to disrupt the team too much. When we win the flag this crap is going to make it all the sweeter. We are still up to our nuts in this season and the worst thing would be to get distracted by this storm in a teacup.

Will Gibson be back in the team by then?

up there with Tony Lockett smashing Peter Caven's nose in. Both could have ended up with something even more serious. Hopefully his Hawks teammates make him pay as well. Let them down big time.

Mate, the AFL made a statement clarifying that eye poking/scratching happened before the choking, you really cannot dismiss that picture so easily.

It's important to acknowledge that there are two sides to every story.
It looked like clear eye gouging to me when i was watching the game and that was what Lake react the way he did - just went right off, but i have not watched replays or stills. That was my take on it though.

Oh Hawks fans.

That's funny.:D

So was Lakes mistake that he didn't go full Barry Hall on Petries neck or what? A jumper full of clenched fist is much worse than a full nelson that takes 5 people to drag him off.

I also take it that eye gouging is not seen as a serious offence anymore.

Well, I'll take a stab and say I'm happier than you are tonight, at least. ;)

Trying to be philosophical about it. No point getting bent out of shape. Lake is important in certain contexts but is by no means a vital cog in the team. We won plenty of games in 2011 and 2012 when Lake wasn't around. Schoenmakers will have to step up to the plate and show us what he's made of. With adversity comes opportunity. 2014 will be some season if we pull off back to back. Could possibly be the greatest feat that this great club has accomplished.

Should be. Today's injury report from Hawthorn says he's on track to be back by then...for whatever that's worth.

True. And while Lake certainly did a Dew in last year's GF, there are (IMHO) several more important players for this year than Lake.

People make mistakes when angry

I work with angry people .....drug users

Prisoners .....prison is full of people who couldn't control their anger

They are not all bad people ...they just have no flip control .....flipping their lid as we call it where when their lid flips and they go to rage that they can't sadly control

I have met quite few football players who've ended up in prison ....anger control and impulse control

Lake is a bit of dill for, what he did but he's not a bad person .....I mean we see zillion things happen every weekend in normal society that are far worse than lakes lid flip as I call it

I'm sure the hawks sports psychologist would be all over it

Well there you go. Brian Lake just admitted to choking Drew Petrie on the Footy Show. ;)
