Our forward structure should look something like this:

Betts
HF: Waite, Kennedy, Fisher

Fev
Lance

Eddie should float further up the ground leaving Fev and Lance one out in the F50 and the crumbers should hit the contest running. Fev has shown that he can handle pretty much anyone on the lead... perhaps he should lead a little further up the ground and more laterally at times (a bit like Hall, starting about 30m from goal and leading up the ground, although may not be needed if our HF line fires) and allow Whitnall a one-out contest at full forward. Lance is not gonna out-lead any full back, but left one-out against anyone, he'd tear them a new cakehole.

Look, if we're gonna make Lance our captain, he has to lead us from CHF. I've enjoyed watching Lance rejuvenate his career as a backmen, and in fact, I reckon he's very unlucky to not've been named All-Australian. - But we've been robbing Peter to pay Paul for too long now, and if you ask me, it's resulted in some easy wins to our opponents.

Frankly, Lance is a gun. - Not as naturally talented as Fevola, but a lot more creative. Potentially it's the best CHF/FF combination in the league. If we want to begin climbing up the ladder we can start by playing our guys in their most damaging positions.

Obviously team balance is an issue here too, but I'm keen to give T-Bird some extra responsibility next season. He can live up to his pay rise and become the new general of the backline..... or make us look stupid for re-signing him. His choice...

Yeah...the more I think about it the more I think Lance should play forward. Lets go for broke even if its means having a little less down back. Except for Fev, our forward line often looks like its filled with chickens with their head cut off. Waite lacks judment for a forward role in my opinion. Kennedy is still learning. Also, Lance will slow down a bit as he get older and will be able to play longer up forward. Down back, push Thornton to CHB with Bower/Saddington and Lappin at each side. And take a risk with O'Hailpin (or maybe Hartlett) at fullback. Throw in Lappin down their to smarten the whole backline up. It looks weaker without Lance, but if we kick more goals it probably doesn't matter.

This is how I'd like to see them line up:
B: Blank O'Hailpin Blank
HB: Blank Thornton Lappin

Waite on the wing

CH: Lance (but goes where he wants) Kennedy Blank
F: Blank Fev Blank

Obviously the blanks will depend on form. Obvious HFFs and FPs are Fisher/Betts/Wiggins and midfielders rotating through such as Gibbs/Blackwell/Kouta/Houlihan. The blanks in the backline shouldn't be too hard to fill.
