One of my earliest memories with fishing I have is digging in the garden for worms and going trout fishing.
Riding my bike down to Piers and Jetty’s.
I’ve got a Kyak and love it and sometimes I’ll jump on with someone who’s heading out on a boat but getting out and Surf fishing is hands down my favourite type of fishing.
Night or Day, night is probably more exciting.

“One off the land is worth ten off the boat”

I try at Mordi pier with no luck.

Tried Patto river with equally no luck.

The pylons under the road near the entrance to Patto also looks nice but again, no luck.

Any land based stuff in Melbourne would be appreciated.
At Mordi pier if you go right to the end on the right hand side and cast out at a 45 degree angle there's some structure where you can catch pinkies. Also on the right hand side all the way down from the very end heading towards the beach to about 5 to 10 metres past the little hut in the middle there are plenty of gar fish in the summer and some whiting.

The water is pretty cold now and things are a bit slower.
I’ve usually had some luck down at Princess Pier if the tides out good chance you’ll be able to get some crabs for bait off the pylons underneath
I’m not a big Bream fisherman but I have heard they love a peeled prawn.

What do you catch off Princess Pier?

I haven’t been there by myself, but having watched fishingmad videos on YouTube, he’s there pretty consistently on his kayak catching pinkies.

Tough day up the river, it had risen probably 6m in the two weeks since I have been there, and the water was flowing fast.
Fishing was tough, no hits on the lures, and the bait fishing had a single bite for the day.

The Crays were slow, but I went home with two legal Crays, so I consider that a win.

I've been wanting to contribute more to this thread and board overall but I've had some terrible luck recently. 6 out of my last 8 sessions have resulted in donuts and the only fish I've caught are 2 toadfish and a bridled goby. I've given the Maribyrnong a go (behind Flemington Racecourse and Canning Reserve), Kerferd Rd Pier, the Patto River, and the Yarra at Studley Park. I've had several bites most sessions and spotted some nice fish (bream in the 'nong and carp jumping in the Yarra). All spots where I've previously had good success as well (the Patto not so much, but I've caught keepers everywhere else).

Patto is a shithole. Under the pylons and nothing.

It doesn't help i am a spud. I'd love a Kayak to fish early against the banks

Anyone ever tried fishing in the Ferntree Gully quarry? I hear the council puts perch and something else in there.

Am still trying to get my 6yo his first fish. I had a trout on the bait on his rod in Frenchman's Creek earlier this year but panicked trying to pass him the rod and didn't hook it properly :(

I've caught the rainbow trout they stock over the winter and spring school holidays and also a redfin on worms just dropped around the pylons of the pier.

Very popular swimming spot on hot days, water runs very clear when sunny so best to go on an overcast day imo.

Yeah, I'm gonna stop going to the Patto. I did see a bloke pull a couple of nice bream once at the end of the carpark near the first gate to the lakes, but I haven't had the same luck and chatting to others, it seems not many people have much luck down there 🤣

I lived in Abers for a little while - from the Anglers down to the nursery would regularly get very decent sized Bream
Basic running sinker and small fresh prawns
Heard you could also get Mulloway

Caught some nice whiting off the beach up at Moffats beach QLD a few days ago on sand worms.
They sell em at Mario’s bait and tackle near Geelong I’m going to pick some up and head down to Ocean grove or Point Lonsdale and do some more.
I think that’s my fav fishing when it’s warm enough to let the water hit your legs off the beach.

Had a flick at Mordi on Monday and went to Devilbend yesterday for some flicking fun!

No bites, no fish but good to get out.

Will be up on the Murray next week and might take the Kayak out for a Cod flick.

I never had much luck at Mordialloc Pier or creek but some good fishing to be had if you hire a boat and take it a few hundred metres from the end of the pier or anywhere north of the pier towards Beaumaris.

How does Devilbend go? My girlfriend doesn't live too far from there but I haven't yet given it a shot.

The bend was dead. We're going to go after dark soon as that's when my mate says it kicks off.

I wasn't really geared up for a proper fish but it was a nice night to have a can and enjoy the view

Just spent 6 nights up in Mallacoota - got through 5 fishing sessions for a total of 7 bream, 2 pinkies, 1 luderick, and 5 toadfish. 2 of the bream and the luderick were keepers. Pippies and mussels the best baits. A beautiful part of Victoria - I highly recommend if you like fishing, bushwalking, birdwatching, and nature in general.

Lorne Pier on Tuesday, plenty of little Trev’s and Salmon being caught. My daughter hooked into something very decent but it when straight under the pier and eventually snapped the line off.
I’ve never had much luck off that pier.

Considering going up to Loch Sport for some fishing.

If you like sharks, it’s a great spot to fish!
Plenty of salmon and other decent fish too.

Beware of sharks if you’re swimming in the 90 Mile Beach and even Gippsland Lakes area potentially however.

Anyone know a family friendly spot in the Mansfield area please? We will be up this weekend.
We fished the Delatite River with friends of my parents. Caught nothing but memories, took nothing but photos.
