Probably more up and comers this year than in previous years, but a very interesting line up once again.

Bat for Lashes, Of Monsters and Men and Real Estate are bands that I really want to see. Will be checking out the others that I have not paid any attention too.

Generally a very good festival.

Lots of garage rock.

I like Japandroids (a lot), The Men, Cloud Nothings and Real Estate so should be a good festival.

El-P and Bat For Lashes are cool too.

As above would be good to see plus Nicolas Jaar.

A lot of bands I'm not familiar with, not too sure if that's good or bad.

No major draw cards, however maybe this is Laneway trying to bring the festival back to its roots. The one downside of the last few years has been the large increase of crowds and inturn d*ckheads. I really enjoyed the first year for its unique and comfortable atmosphere.

The crowds have certainly been very dickish the last couple of years.

Noticed since this morning that Of Monsters and Men are not coming to Perth.

Yeh no headliners at all really.

Always good to get into a heap of these bands before going anyway. Last year Girls were probably the highlight and I hadn't heard much at all of them.

Fck Japandroids not doing a sideshow though.

I was really excited by this. But the announcement has been disappointing.

Twerps and Pond are cool, but they tour Australia a fair bit. I don't 'get' Alt-J, and most of the bands are just meh to me. Shlohmo, Jaar, and Holy Other are cool. And I love Real Estate and Japandroids... but I just don't know if I can justify going.

Bat for Lashes, Japandroids, Yeasayer and Cloud Nothings make it worthwhile for me, Attack on memory prob being my favourite album this year, agree with the sentiment about all the douche's the last couple of years, seems any festival these days is an invitation for dickheads to spend all day drinking, getting hammered and not even watching any bands...

Just sneak in again :thumbsu:

There are no must sees for me as in previous years, but Laneway has often been a chance to discover somebody that I had not really heard before. This may be the case again. Certainly Bat for Lashes and Real Estate will be worth seeing. I will be going.

i used to know Jerome back in the days of the actual St Jeromes on caladonian lane. Does he still run it or just lend his name to the event?

I'll be going.

Really keen to catch Nicolas Jaar, El-P, Perfume Genius and Real Estate.

Very excited to see Jessie Ware and Julia Holter, both have such incredible voices. Wondering how they'll translate in a live environment.

Was in India for this years festival, haven't missed one since it's been in Perth otherwise.

I agree, bit underwhelming but maybe that's me not being in touch with the cool kids and not the bands. Will look forward to seeing Twerps though. Really enjoyed their album from earlier in the year.

I don't think it's that at all. I keep up with a lot of new music, because I have the time to. I just don't like most of those bands, or don't find them interesting at all. I mean, look at last year... they had a bit of a drawcard. Toro y Moi, The Horrors, M83... they are big names in 'alt' music. I dunno if 2013 has that. Someone like Japandroids or Beach Fossils should compliment those bigger acts.

Jesus and Mary Chain were rumoured. They would've been cool. And I was holding out for the Pastels too.
