Well I daresay it would be hard to put on muscle considering his extra-curricular activities....

I just do not understand how johnson can be an afl list for 5+ years and still have no definition or muscle?
I mean sure he is aboriginal which means muscle can be hard to put on, but really, ecverything points to him not respecting his body

And what research are you basing your outrageous statement on?
What a load of Bullshine!

east freo 75 i was there too sitting on the fence behind the goals with my young fella, that wasnt you there with your young bloke too was it?same end warney was having shots at goal from just before the game

Do you think we should trade Johnson, and then just pluck a couple of ready made 195 cm players out of the "key position player" tree I have in my backyard?

I'm not defending Johnson by the way. I think quite a few of you look at Freo and then hang dirt on your own club without thinking through the actual difficulties of putting together a team.

Think of it like this. Last year Quentin Lynch was thought to be going no where. This year he is kicking goals out of his rectum. Could that not happen to Michael Johnson?

We had a shocker of a year. But last year we were miles in front of the team down the road and look where they are now. That could be us.

I'm no researcher either, but from personal experience I'm willing to back him up on this. In the main, the people I know are of nyungah decent, and bulky muscle is definitely not one of their traits, even with hard work.

Firstly, Johnson is as much a KPP as I am a synchronised swimmer.

One thing the Q-stick has never wanted for is an appetite for the contest. If you compete and are willing to put your body on the line you're a chance. Johnson does not do that.

He played 22 games. 1 could be classified as good. there'd be 4-5 that could be considered acceptable.

That leaves 16 games of shite.

Don't try and tell me it's sticky pudding...

Have to agree with Lach. MJ is not a KPP. He's our 'Cale Morton' although I think he's better than Morton.

MJ has great games when he can 'roam' freely around the ground, reads the play just fine and is generally a good user of the footy. Any attempt at pigeon holing him in an accountable position leads to disaster and inevitably he looks like he doesn't enjoy his footy.

We expect the wrong things out of him. He's not a power forward and he's not a fullback so not sure why some think he might be at some point.

It means that we are expecting to cut guys who have been given a chance in the last few weeks and haven't seized the opportunity.

Johnson will be exempt from this group.

I'm guessing Hinkley and Pearce fall in this group. Palmer also, obviously. Duff and MJ, but don't see either being traded unfortunately. Potential seems to be rated higher than commitment, so they're probably safe.

Can somebody make sense of that for me. I defend Harvey more than I should I reckon, but I simply can't make sense of that at all.

When Harvey retires he should write a book on the English syntax - that would be a hoot of a read.

It's a Zen riddle. Harvs is deeper than he appears.

He's deliberately being confusing to highlight the fact that words can't describe the essential nature of reality.

Or he really doesn't know what the f*ck he's actually saying.

I favour the latter explanation.

Michael Johnson doesn't even compare to Lynch.
Like others have said, Lynch has an appetite for the game. Johnson just doesn't give a crap, and the fact that he got a free ride this year sums up where this club is at the moment.

There are alot of players in our system that should be fitter, muscular, by now.The leadership group should be leading the way by example, I remember reading how Woosha and Jakovich trained together, were pushing each other to run up hills, because the opposition would be slowing down on them, to give them an edge.
The chain is only as strong as the weakest link.Love to hear the leadership
group punishing others, for lack of effort.

I was at the game yesterday, actually behind the goals and sitting on the fence.
Johnson didn't stand out as out of shape. I think its more to do with him having skinny arms.

Where you the guys sitting in the front row to the right of the cheersquad?
I think i might invited one of you to sit with us behind the goals... I was the bloke in the fron row of the cheersquad yelling his head off and starting all the chants. ;)

Hope you had fun at the game!

Duffield is part of our leadership group :o

yeah my son had and i wern't sitting with the cheersquad but we had a good laugh at you.
we were sitting just to the right of you i had an old freo jumper on and the young bloke had one of the new blurple chevrons on.
yes there is only one keplar bradley
yep we had a great time,i was just making sure barry hall was gone and not coming back,

:thumbsu:
Good idea. Peter Faulks, Alex Silvagni, and the Michael Johnson that arrived at the club all entered the system as late picks and were better than the current Michael Johnson so I'd be happy to **** him off and pick 2 talls from the SANFL/WAFL/VFL.

I'm not defending Johnson by the way. I think quite a few of you look at Freo and then hang dirt on your own club without thinking through the actual difficulties of putting together a team.

I think quite a few people don't realise how far off we are if someone as lazy as Johnson is a walk up start. If that's the standard that warrants a new contract then the coach and the footy manager are in strife.

Think of it like this. Last year Quentin Lynch was thought to be going no where. This year he is kicking goals out of his rectum. Could that not happen to Michael Johnson?

Possibly, but only if Johnson finds the workrate required.

The difference between Johnson and Embley/Lynch is that Lynch isn't very good but tries hard and they've found a role for him, and Embley's a seagull who gets ahead of the ball and will look good in a winning team.

When Johnson was playing terribly in the first 5 rounds how many games did we win?

We had a shocker of a year. But last year we were miles in front of the team down the road and look where they are now. That could be us.

So if we start winning a guy who was in the leadership group until he got arrested for snorting coke down a laneway, has been at the club for 8 seasons, and hasn't played consistently well since 2006 will pull his finger out? Well good on ya Mr Johnson, where do I send the Thankyou card?

Jesus, allegory is a dead duck isn't it. Some of you wouldn't get a metaphor if it came up and licked your ear.

So if not Lynch, compare Jonno to Andrew Embley who had a really carp year last year.

Actually, forget it. Just hang shite on your own players with all the authority and football knowledge of disgruntled Richmond fans. Because thats what you all sound like.

Tell me, I've always wanted to know if the nose peg is as uncomfortable as it looks.

Then tell me where is the 195cm plus tree that we can pluck out some outstanding replacement given the amount of shite levelled at Mitch Clark.

Then, explain to me if Michael Johnson is not a KPP player why he was playing half his games as one on the forward line AND still get pummelled by fans. Surely he is being played out of position.

One thing the Q-stick has never wanted for is an appetite for the contest. If you compete and are willing to put your body on the line you're a chance. Johnson does not do that.
Granted but then Hill, Ibbotson, Duffield, McPharlin don't either. Bugger me if Ibbo isn't the softest player in the history of the club. And some of Hill's efforts over the course of the season were pathetic.

He played 22 games. 1 could be classified as good. there'd be 4-5 that could be considered acceptable.

That leaves 16 games of shite.

Don't try and tell me it's sticky pudding...
I'm not arguing he was shite. I'm arguing that he is hard to replace with something better.

McPharlin should be AA CHB this year. As for the others you'll get no argument from me.
On your first point, I've been asking what the hell he's been doing in the team at all, let alone on the hf line.

He's soft and has no presence. Case in point, Silvagni goes off and Hall gets 3 goals in about 30 seconds.

You wan't me to compare him to a premiership player who won a Norm Smith Medal, who will most likely be in contention for All Australian this year and has played a key role in his team's revival to be a premiership contender this year?

Ok...
