Laser Eye Surgery...

You're doing all right to be on the computer.

I was amazed when I could see the TV without glasses or contacts when I woke up after I had a short snooze after the op! :thumbsu:

The only tiny, little issue is that I could actually feel the laser working on my eyes. When I told the doctor this between eyes he told me they knew about it but don't disclose it as it would turn people off.

By feel do you mean you could feel sensations on your eye, or you could actually feel the pain of the flesh burning?

Is very safe, and benifical.Scores of people who work in my line of work have had it and never looked back.
I think you have to be careful saying there. As with any medical procedure there are risks involved although in this case I believe it is quite small.

Looking at the YT video, I wonder how can the patients not naturally flinch when someone is poking stuff into your eye?

Of course there are risks, there are risks with any medical procedure.

I see what you are saying though.

A better way of putting it is the benefits far outweigh the risk factor:)

they clamp your eye open, and if ure used to contacts u dont care if something touches your eye
Do they restrain the rest of your body? I think I would naturally react by flinching or moving my arms towards the thing poking my eye.

Of course not. If you were wearing contacts for any given time you'd be used to having something in your eye.

It's not comfortable by any stretch but you will find the willpower not to flinch as it's a few seconds of discomfort for such a great result.

So you'll need to wear contacts for some time before going for the surgery? I haven't won a pair in 2 years.

I assume they use local anaesthetic drops in your eyes so, you actually don't feel pain, you just feel pressure.

I am not sure I would risk having this surgery myself.

If I had a spare 7000, I would invest it in another investment property.

It doesn't cost $7000. And really there's more important things than another investment property - like others have said, it changes your life.

I know it changes your life, their are also complications, and unfortunately I have seen a few of those in my time professionally. So personally, I would wear contacts.

BrownDog is the one who said he was given that amount of money by his mother.

I have no idea how much it costs.

So hang on does that mean you aren't shortsighted and don't wear glasses and you're commenting on this?

So how did you deduce that one.

I said personally I WOULD WEAR contacts.

Just because I choose not to have the surgery doesn't mean I am not allowed to comment on it.
I have never asked you or would never ask you or anyone else about the state of their eyesight.

It seems as though it reads that she is a in the medical profession and has seen both the good and bad sides of it all..

But whatever suits your little game :)

Personally, I'm shortsighted, and wear contact lenses. Down the track, it is an avenue I may explore, but currently, the contacts are no hassles at all, so it isn't an overly pressing matter.

There is no little game fgs. It reads I would wear contacts and not I wear contacts. As some one who went from not being able to see my feet without glasses I find it strange that some one who hasn't had the 'pleasure' of contact wearing to be telling someone to better spend their money on an investment property. My comment was that there ismore to life than making money.

Anyone who has had the procedure has seen the negatives (the practitioner is obligated to do so). Alternatively use google. Being a nurse does not make some one an authority on all things medical.

I had thought the thread was to ask for informed opinions....
