Anyone here listen to the last.fm radio stations? I find they are quite good if you feel like listening to new music, or music all from a certain genre. However, the audio quality isn't that flash, and the stream seems to download very slowly for me, so during the evening, it usually has to keep buffering

Anyone who wants to see my last fm page

Something to do with these damn record companies... Seriously, I don't mind paying for a better service I am a Last.fm subscriber, but when 3 major countries get it for free, and others, including third world countries, have to pay, that annoys me a little bit. Either force everyone to pay the $3 or none at all. Im sure people outside those countries are in a better position to fork out the cash than the others.

I don't use the radio all that much, but once in a while it is good to get some reccomendations out of. And I hope now, we can listen to full length tracks a few times, like the US, UK and Germany. If nothing changes, it will be extremely dissapointing.

Scrobbling, profiles etc are still free. You will now be paying for the radio service, which will become exclusive to the subscription model.

I used to occasionally use it when I didn't feel like listening to my own library and wanted to find some new bands to listen to. Now I know what I like, so I rarely listen to it. Also, it used to stream so slow, so it was no good.

I hardly ever use the radio anyway so no real big loss. I'm a subscriber to the site because I use the other features very heavily and it's nice not seeing any ad's.

Is funny that they are quite openly keeping their biggest markets on side by keeping their service free yet charging the rest of the world.

I think its to do with the record companies rather than any 'dislike' towards the rest of the world, but there is no reason why you shouldn't charge everyone. Logically the first world countries are the ones that SHOULD be charged, seeing as they are most likely to pay for it in the first place.

The sooner record companies disappear, the better music will be for it.

I think this topic deserves a good ol' bumping, now that I have reached the nerdish milestone of over 9000 scrobbles :D

Awesome Firefox addon that allows you to scrobble tunes you listen to on Myspace and various other sites. Listen to a youtube or a CD in an external player? You can manually scrobble songs via the site too. Best thing for Last FM devotees since sliced bread :thumbsu:

Hmm...

150438 plays since 7 Jul 2005 (reset on 19 Jan 2007)

I would have over 200,000 if it wasn't for the reset. :p

I mainly only listen to music on iTunes or my iPod, so every track is scrobbled.

I understood your nerdish quip ;)

Not sure if that is a good thing or not

Anyway back on topic. I am just shy of 30,000 scrobbles and was very much thanking this website last night. I did a complete run through of all their suggested artists and found at least 5 very small bands I hadn't heard of which all sounded great. Should be good watching them progress :thumbsu:
