Frost/Nixon
Excellent film with some superb acting from a largely unknown cast.
Despite knowing the story (and thus the conclusion) prior to watching it, it didn't take anything away from the compelling nature of the story and the performances.
Dave Chappelle's Block Party
Terrible.
Some of the musical performances make it watchable, but the rest of it was dreadful.
Perhaps i should have watched it back when Dave was relevant (and sane).
The Perfect Catch
Despite being a ripoff....sorry, 'rework' of a British film (Fever Pitch), i really enjoyed this rom-com.
As with most rom-com's, it's pretty cliched and predictable, but Drew Barrymore and Ione Skye make it worth watching.
The Breakfast Club
I've found a new member of my top 20 films of all-time.
I don't know why it took me so long to watch this film, but it's freaking awesome.
Despite it being made before my time, i could relate to so much of the content (both the serious and not so serious aspects) and unlike many films of it's age, it holds up really well.
The unbroken 20 minute scene of the five of them sitting around talking is so powerful and compelling, not to mention incredibly risky.
I can't think of many directors who would be willing to do a solid, unbroken 20 minute scene of five people talking, and even fewer who could actually make it work.
