The music in BTTF is the best! :p

Why have I not heard of this Ryan Reynolds movie???

Serious!??? I'll give it to you on Friday. :thumbsu:

And yeah, not a huge fan of Still Waiting... I just love Ryan Reynolds too much and hate it when there is sequels without the main/best actor/character from the first.

I watched Knowing tonight, it's not bad but I hated the weird shit in it.

American Gangster - classic film. Denzel is at his brilliant best and 'oh my god it's' Russell Crowe is excellent. Must watch this one.
Excellent film.
The ending was breathtaking.

Almost Famous - inspired to do so by NBA writer Bill Simmons, this is now one of my all time favourites. I am totally in love with Kate Hudson now, well, the Kate Hudson of 9 years ago anyway.
It's definitely in my top 10 films of all-time.
Jason Lee and Billy Crudup are both brilliant and really do steal the show.

Edit: just thought of another powerful song.. the one they use at the end of Six Feet Under!
Shhh.... I still haven't managed to get through it all. :(

What series/ep are you up to?
I think we're up to episode 9 of season 3.

I've been desperate to get through the remaining episodes but by the end of the night we often only have enough time to watch a 20-minute sitcom so we've been watching season 2 of 'The Office US' and season 7 of 'Scrubs' on dvd over the last week or two.

With Geelong playing on Friday night we might finally get some time on the weekend to watch a few episodes of Six Feet Under.

In keeping with the thread, the last movie i watched was Life Is Beautiful.

I've always just watched it the way it was intended with English subtitles, but this time i watched the English dubbed version and the message holds up surprisingly well despite a couple of the characters sounding like English aristocrats.

Yep, a full 50 minutes and it's such a powerful show that i can't really stop and start it so lately i've rarely had time to watch an episode during the week.

The DVD's are well worth owning, whether you get the R4 box or the amazing R1 box.

Oh, i've seen the UK 'The Office', over and over.

It's one of my all-time favourite shows and one that doesn't age, and whilst i was initially resistant to the idea of an American version (as i believed they'd dumb it down thus ruining the entire concept), when i found out the awesome Greg Daniels was going to handle it, i begrudgingly gave it a chance and now i can't get enough of it.

It'll never surpass the original Gervais/Merchant version but it stands up on it's own as a quality, well-written and acted comedy (and as much as i adored Mackenzie Crook's 'Gareth' character, Rainn Wilson's 'Dwight K. Schrute' is actually a better, more developed and well-rounded character).

Having said all that, i'll never forget some of Gareth's memorable rants, most especially the 'Do you like curry?' line to the girl in the club and the 'Oh, Mark Paxon sir, he's got knobrot off some tart' line from his rant about letting women into the army.

What about... "Im thinking If there'll ever be -pause- a boy that can swim faster than a shark"

And his exchanges with Tim and Dawn about his army "experiences" are just brilliant. :D:thumbsu:

And do i even NEED to mention the stapler?!?!?!?! :D

Burn After Reading

As with all Coen brothers films, it's quick, witty and intelligently written, however i felt the ending was far too abrupt.

The story was rivetting and they mixed comedy with thriller elements as only the Coen brothers can, however i really disappointed with how they chose to end the film.

The ending felt rushed, lazy, too convienent and they didn't tie up the loose ends properly, which left me walking away feeling unfilfilled.

It's a good enough story to justify watching but with a proper, less rushed ending it would have been a great film.

One Day in September, a doco about the Munich Olympics where 11 Israeli athletes were taken hostage and later on killed. Seen this movie a few times now and it still angers me about how the Germans ****ed up the whole "rescue" operation. Mistake after mistake after MISTAKE AFTER MISTAKE was just unbelieveable.... mistake no1 was having a weak as shit security and having their "security guards" carry around only batons.

Yeah good one.

Before The Devil Knows You're Dead

An intelligent, beautifully shot, well-written, tense thriller from director Sidney Lumet.
Watching the fast-paced directorial style you'd think the director was an edgy young guy, yet it's an 85yo man, which is a testament to the extraordinary talent of Sidney Lumet.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is wonderful, as always (although he should NEVER do another sex scene), Marisa Tomei was delightful (she should ALWAYS do sex scenes, just not with PSH :D ) whilst Ethan Hawke (who i don't think i've seen since the superb Gattaca) stole the show.

It's an amazing film and one that everyone should endeavour to see.

Waiting!

Very very good Nints! Ryan was at his best as the wise ass.... dunno about the whole "getting other men to look at their penises" joke, but the script is definitely sharp.

And extra bonus points for the role by John F Daley (for those unedumacated he is a geek from Freaks and Geeks)- BRILLIANT. Love his final scene at the end. So fitting. :D

And yes, after watching that i will NEVER be rude to wait staff. Oh dear lord, I was even eating nachos during that scene. I felt like i was going to throw up. :(

7.5/10 :thumbsu:

Watched Tropic Thunder yesterday, Ben Stiller is so hit & miss but this was a definite hit. All the characters were over the top but it worked well and I laughed a lot.

Spent half the movie waiting for Tom Cruise to appear before realising who he was. He was so awesome, he may be a weird cultist but he is a top actor.
