Does anyone know who the last team was not to win a game in a season and when it was??

If Freo don't beat St Kilda this weekend we may be the next. (Lets hope not)

Fitzroy, in 1964. Won 0, Lost 18. Percentage of 59.7%

Since the introduction of the 22-game season, the worst results have been :
1972 - North Melbourne :( - Won 1, Lost 21, 62.9%
1981 - Melbourne - Won 1, Lost 21, 63.5%
1996 - Fitzroy - Won 1, Lost 21, 49.5%

Taken from AFL2000.

I can remember that 1981 Melbourne win. Flower took a mark in the goal square in time on in the last 1/4 and put the Dees in front for the first time in the game.

My friend was sitting on the ground wiping his eyes and saying "I'm not crying"(but i think he was)

It may not be the highest standard game of football, but Saturday nights game between St Kilda and Fremantle will be one of the more fiercely contested games of the year.

Both teams have been in winning positions this year only to fade away in the last quarter. This week one of the teams will win and the other will be under the scrutiny of the media amid in-house crisis talks.

Before Friday night, I was going through our form

Round 5 vs Carlton - Got to within 4 pts at 15 min mark of last quarter before losing by 5 goals.

Round 6 - Win against Sydney

Round 7 vs Hawthorn - Lead by 11 pts at the 23 min mark of last quarter before conceding 4 goals in 5 minutes

Round 8 - Beaten easily by Kangaroos

Round 9 vs Collingwood - Led by 6 goals at half time before another dramatic fade out. Lost by 3 goals

Round 10 cs Melbourne - Led by 19pts at 3 quarter time before yet AGAIN giving up the ghost. Lost by 5 goals.

Round 11 - Not disgraced. Rather typical that the time that we were fortunate enough to get an injury depleted Essendon, we were in exactly the same position.

I've noticed that Fremantle were a lot closer to winning towards the beginning of the season. Once losing becomes second nature, it's hard to break the habit.

Unfortunately I'm not too confident this week. Over the past few years, we have made a habit of getting close to beating the better sides, only to lose the winable games like this weekend. Freo also remind me of St Kilda in that when things go right and build a bit of momentum behind them, they are very hard to stop at home.

I might have said it earlier but if we do lose this week, my patience will almost be gone and I will be happy to join the mob in tearing down the social club. We MUST win! ;)
