When I got my P's nearly a year ago, everyone told me to make sure I was also completely sober when driving because I would get caught at a random breath test station, while they said that due to being a p plater, I would always get pulled over by cops for random licence checks etc.

In the year that i've been driving solo, I've been RBT'd once. And that was on a Wednesday at midday, hardly the prime time for the coppers to catch someone drink driving. Never been pulled up apart from that. I just find it astounding that the Victorian Police always say that they will catch us if we are doing the wrong thing, but i've barely ever seen a RBT station apart from the one I went through. Is it the same where you are?

Maybe i'm just doing the right thing and they're leaving me alone :D

I've been through 4 I think since getting my license nearly 7 years ago now, it's not a hugely common thing to see unless it's a blitz weekend.

my brother got done for DUI not long ago. 0.147 - a years licence suspension, 2 year good behaviour bond and a $2k fine.

no, but amazingly there was a bloke on rbt he blew 0.147 in between my bro got done in early november and his court case in mid december. i don't watch that sort of shite but my old man being a bit concerned about what may happen decided to put it into his regular viewing and gave me a call one night saying i wouldn't believe it but a guy had blown the exact same as my bro on this show... of course my dad is a bit prone to exaggeration so the guy on the show could've blown anything between 0.12 and 0.16 and he'd claim it was the exact same.

Went through 3 RBT's over the Christmas break. One of them was at 8.30 am on a Wednesday morning, out the front of our Crown Casino ( Burswood ). Was suprised at the time, but the policeman told me, " You would be suprised how many people we catch at this time of morning " . Funny thing is, the only car pulled over to the side was a taxi. The passenger was standing there, looking very pissed off, while the driver was on the phone, looking very sheepish.

Have only ever gone over .05 once. This was because I had just finished my beer 5 minutes before getting pulled over. I don't drink and drive. I would lose my job. I blew again 15 minutes later, and blew .02. The policeman told me, " If you have just finished a drink, rinse your mouth out with water to get rid of the residual alcohol. Handy hint.

One RBT on the way home from school 2 years ago so there was no chance I was going to be caught. Passed the test and I was on my way. He was quite a pleasant officer and ended up having a chat about my career aspirations.

I used to get pulled over every fortnight for about 2 years (went to uni at Deakin lived in Hawthorn, drove from Uni home, for those not in Melbourne its a well worn path for Uni pub nights) drove a shitty VL with P plates. As soon as i finished Uni and upgraded my car i think ive been pulled over once. Last time at a Booze Bus would have been last year around March.

Booze buses are always in spots where you can't escape them by turning off the street once you see them

This means the locations that they can go are quite limited

I know all the hotspots on my normal routes so if I've ever had a drink (just one or two, not drink driving) I'll avoid those spots just to avoid any hassle

I do see them maybe once a month in those hot spots though, but would estimate 70-80% of the time nobody is out testing, just the traffic cones and bus sitting there no police in sight

Only been pulled over once on my Ps by the local 'traffic authority' or some shit. I've never been pulled over by a police car but have been a passenger in two that have been randomly tested

Driving for 10 years, have been tested maybe 3 or 4 times. Every single time has been either on the way to or from work (ie, no later than 5.30pm) and on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday. Have never been tested on a Friday or Saturday night. Definitely makes me feel safer knowing that the cops around here are out in full force at the most dangerous drink driving times.

It's pretty stupid really.

Always set up in the same spots.

I'm about as loose as campaigner as you'll find (i type that whilst sitting at home at 12.30am on a Saturday night) but i've got a pretty dim view on drink driving, which i will put my hand and say i've done twice myself and they were both stupid decisions.

I was pissed off as **** about my bro above because he was coming to meet me, and the pub he was at with his mates is a hot spot for buses. He would've been in town just as quick as he would've been driving anyway the dumb campaigner. If he was in the middle of nowhere I could understand (sort of).

Have a rbt zone near work. So I get it about 5 times a month.

Thankfully it started after I would down a 4 pack of wild turkey premix after work
