Under the draft concessions, Launceston can bid on 1 uncontracted player per club under most of the same rules as their current club (i.e. pay 10% less than other clubs, only have to match other opponents' bids, cheap rookie promotions, etc). Under other concessions, any player born in 1982 or earlier can be recruited as a veteran by Launceston. The one thing they don't get is a chance to bid on players in the first week so if, for example, Adelaide offered Thompson the maximum salary in that week, Launceston wouldn't be able to beat that bid and would therefore get nothing out of that selection.

Marklar has until 7:15pm on September 4 (approx final siren in the final minor round game) to finalise his players in this thread. These players will also be the opposite of other players in terms of tradability - they will be untradeable until a bid is won (and Launceston will automatically make an inactive minimum bid on each selected player whenever opposition bidding opens), and tradeable after a bid is won.

Teams who lose players through this will get compensation picks. The numbers provided below are based on scores at the end of round 16. These will not be finalised until the end of the season

Those pick numbers are rounded to the nearest positive number. If Launceston gets 2 players with the same pick number against them then I go to the more accurate number in the spreadsheet and the player with the lower number will be compensated with the pick after. In that case I know Ablett is -17 and Martin is only somewhere around -4, so Geelong would get pick 1 and Richmond would get pick 2.

Off the top of my head it's 10 days from the opening day of bidding, then 3 days after subsequent bids. The rules thread may tell you more.

You have two options, to keep him or to let him go to Launceston for pick 26 as compensation.

In order to keep him you will have to outbid Launceston and other opposition clubs. Launceston also have the same luxury of a 10% discount as you do when bidding for Hawksley as they have nominated him as an uncontracted player selection.
