Morning
What’s the law/ Rule on a kick after siren that gets punched through for a rush behind??? Is it counted or no score

If it's punched through, no score. If it's touched in flight, it's a behind.

Haha, that's a grey area if I've seen one. Now we have to differentiate what a punch and a touch is. Can you touch with a closed fist?

You don't know the difference between punching it through or touching it before it crosses the line? Really?
It's obvious. If a kick travels the distance, it's a score. If it goes through the goal and is touched at any stage, either by the man on the mark, or someone reaching to touch it on the line before it goes through, then it's a behind. If the kick doesn't travel the distance and someone punches it through, then obviously it's no score. If you were allowed to punched the ball through, then forwards could do it as well so their side can win by 1 point.

I though that it didn't count if a teammate deliberately punched it through, but would if an opposition player did (after having a brain fade).
This was my understanding, so I googled it and found the below.

12.5 SCORING GOAL OR BEHIND AFTER PLAY HAS ENDED
12.5.1 Goal or Behind Recorded in Certain Circumstances
Even though play has come to an end, a Goal or Behind shall be
recorded for a Team if:
(a) the Goal or Behind is scored by a Player from a Free Kick or Mark
which was awarded to the Player before play came to an end; or
(b) the Goal or Behind was scored by a Player who disposed of the
football before play came to an end; or
(c) the Goal or Behind is scored by a Player who was awarded a Free
Kick under Law 12.6.
12.5.2 Football Touched in Transit
A Behind shall still be recorded under Law 12.5.1 if the football is
touched in transit by another Player, provided the field Umpire is
satisfied that the scoring of the Behind was not assisted by a Player
from the same Team.

That's my understanding because it's obviously "understood" that an opposition player would be trying to minimise the score rather than assist it - so if they punch it through it's obviously a "stuff-up" and should count. The opposite applies for someone on a team trying to score at that end.

Presumably this question was raised because this very thing happened in the Sydney-GWS game on the weekend - but it was punched through by the Swans players was it not? So no score. Or was it the other way around?

If it's punched through, no score. If it's touched in flight, it's a behind.

If it’s punched through by a defender it’s a behind.

Happened in a game in Sydney a few years back. Shot by the opposition after the half time siren, belted through by Peter Everett, paid as a rushed behind. Sydney lost by a point.

If punched through by attacking team, no score. If punched through by defending team, rushed behind. Had this a few years ago on final siren when scores were level. Set kick from 40m after the siren and ball was dropping 1m short and was punched over by full forward. They're dancing around thinking it was a 1 point win but discovered it was no score.

Under the previous rule there was no score if the kick was touched or did not go through on the full. Clear, unambiguous and easy to umpire. Of course, the AFL had to change it.

Easily the dumbest thing ever posted, everyone knows it counts as a point if its touched by the opposition, but dosen't if its touched by the same team, nobody could be stupid enough to actually think that.

What happens if the shot is taken after the siren, the defender is illegally taken out of the play and the ball goes through for a score?

Free kick to the defender, duh. No score.

Its illegal to take players illegally out of play.

Free kick and no score if the defender had a legitimate chance of getting a hand on the ball.

You're actually incorrect. If it brushes the hands of either team as it goes over, it's a behind. It's only when it's assisted over by the attacking team that it doesn't count.

Heres one I doubt we have seen

Kick after the siren...........team trails by 11 points.

Defender manhandles a forward roughly on the goallline and touches the ball and it goes through the goals.

Umpire calls goal as the touch was illegal.................then pays another free kick for the rough conduct.....the old 12 point goal trick.......team wins!!!!

Thats how I want to beat Richmond in the Granny.....win from 11 points down after the siren!!!!!

Doesn't quite work like that. Firstly, you wouldn't call it a goal for being an illegal tackle / shepherd - you would pay a free kick. A second kick for goal only happens when the infringement happens in between the ball crossing the goal line and the all clear being given.
