If we lose Laycock, we can't lose Bock.
If we do, we'll need to have another genuine option as a back-up Ruck, as Hille has maybe 3 years left, and we've shown a habit of being short of ruckmen.
Perhaps there's a few handy mature-aged options running around in the WAFL?
Surely any mature age state level player would jump at the chance to be put on an AFL (or rookie) list, and would expect nothing other than to start at the bottom of the pecking order?I guess the issue will be to convince any ruckman coming to the Dons that you're essentially a Bendigo ruckman and start as 4th in the pecking order and have to prove yourself to get above Belly and into the seniors.
The medical expenses for Laycock over the years have gone from variable to fixed, the bean counters will be grinning along with all the knockers.
I think it'd depend on whether or not he can get another gig.Do they end with the contract though? or does the club pay until injuries that happened under contract are fully rehabilitated? I imagine as his employer and the fact it is a workplace injury they have some long term obligations.
I think it'd depend on whether or not he can get another gig.
If someone else (even VFL/WAFL) lists him, they take him on with all his costs.
