Cannot understand the rush on here by a few to take the captaincy off Jonesy anytime soon.
Has lead us through the mire and will continue to do so as we begin our climb up the ladder.
Goes about it in a way that he is just about entitled to hold it until he retires. (Maybe 1 year handover).
Viney a leader already but not ready to captain.

Agreed, Jones can be the skipper until such time as he no longer wants it. Be it when he retires, or a year or two before hand, to then act as a mentor for his replacement. Be it Viney, Brayshaw or even Max. Would love for Maxy to be given more time in front of any microphone someone might want to put in front of him. Needs a gig on AFL 360 sooner rather than later too.

Agree.
Maxy great to listen to!
Really love Viney and how he goes about it on field but battles a bit when talking (as many kids that age do and Jones did also) so he just needs some time.
No rush whatsoever, we have arguably the most underrated leader in the game in Jones and I'd be pretty confident in saying that if we'd been a better side in the last 3 years, his name would be mentioned much more when discussing the better players in the comp.

Leadership is overrated, the Dees need A grade players.

Viney, Hogan, Salem, McDonald and all those other guys need to concentrate on becoming A graders. Can worry about fluff like "leadership" when the team can make it into the top 8.

Can't even remember the last time the Dees had a player that was within the 10 best in the league (let alone top 5). Can always elevate average players like Nick Maxwell or Tom Harley for leadership when the gun players are in place.

Developing as a player and developing as a leader doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Some players thrive under the extra responsibility.

Maybe...but Dees track record leaves me a bit dubious. Trengove, Grimes. Call it once bitten twice shy.

Will show up on TFS and revive the show I reckon
