MELBOURNEfc’s player Leadership Group has today sanctioned Nathan Carroll to miss the first two senior matches of the AFL pre-season competition.

The newly formed Leadership Group - consisting of David Neitz, Adem Yze, Russell Robertson, James McDonald, Cameron Bruce, Brad Miller and Brock McLean - came to the decision to suspend Nathan after he showed a lack of professionalism in preparation for the 2008 season.
Not the best start of the year for chopper! will give frawley a chance to step up though

EDIT: thought it said for the premiership season but its for the NAB cup. still interesting move though, i thought everybody was pumped

Well my sister got a photo with him on new years eve in Thailand at some full moon party. When she told me, I thought what the hell are you doing in Thailand, shouldn't you be laying low in Melbourne? So I just laughed when I heard this!

Good to see his old tag-team partner Brock swinging the axe. This is worse than when Rick Martel walked out on Tito Santana at Wrestlemania V.

More like HBK's sweet chin music to his old 'Rockers' partner Marty Janetty.

If we go out first round of the NAB cup, does Carroll get suspended for the next practice match of Round 1 of the real stuff?

One of those deadly NAB Challenge matches I'd imagine.

It will give someone else an opportunity to play full back and if they make a fist of it, Carrol may lose his spot more permanently. So this punishment may end up tougher than at first glance. Or not...

Does anyone know what he has done???????
If I could have a stab at it, I would say he has rocked up to training hungover like a dog! Does he not realise that his spot is really up for grabs this year?? Not the smartest move.

I agree that it might not seem like much missing 2 NAB cup games, but with Bailey putting him up as a trade option and with a few developing defenders in the works this could end up being more serious for Carroll

This sounds like a joke to me, sanctioned for 2 pre season matches, please. He is an average player at best who is not going to be full back in our next premiership side. If they are going to make an example of him they have missed the opportunity. What do you do to get a 2 week pre season ban?, p!ss on the toilet seat or something. If this is a statment from the leadership group it's a f-ing joke.
Bad start to the season, i hope i'm wrong.

If they didn't do anything, no one would know about it like the Steve Johnson incident and i'm not bothered with the fact that the leadership group are painting themselves as strict rule enforcers either. That's what we need around here. Some hearty discipline.

I believe its a good move. It was for not conducting himself in a professional manner, so no single incident was to blame just a poor attitude for his exploits after hours. Its a good sign from Bailey and co. its time we stop accepting the mediocrity that plagued Melbourne during the daniher years.

Most likely a weight/training issue. The amount of crap people are spinning on the main board, including Geelong supporters is just laughable. Hopefully he gets his shit together and actually becomes a quality player, cause he's not THAT bad, he's quite useful

Typical afl club double standards in my opinion when it comes to steve johnson. brings us back when WCE dropped Garnder faster than a lead balloon but still hung on 2 Cousins. Had cox not been at WCE they would have kept Gardner 2 . I think it is a great move by the leadership group, Carroll has to realise that we have some great young talent that could quite easily fill that position in the next season or 2.

I'm just here to give you guys some support, I don't agree with all of these idiotic Hawthorn supporters trolling your boards, so I figured I'd lend my hand. Btw, I'd kill for mods like yours on our boards. Marns is awesome.
