A 1-1 draw away to Coventry. Gained a point or better in all but 1 game this season. No rest for the teams as there is another fixture on Tuesday.

At home to Peterborough. A tough test for the team. A must win if Sunderland wishes to stay in touch.

Sunderland drew 2-2 with The Posh. Led at half time. Went a man down and conceded. Took the lead again before Peterborough equalised. Given the circs probably a satisfactory outcome.

Squad appears deeper as 3 of the starting 11 including captain missed last night’s game.

Appears most of the teams in the top half lost or drew so no harm done.

Acrington-Stanley with a bullet. I never thought I’d type that.

Sunderland travelled to Valley Parade to take on Bradford City. Given the slip up mid week 3 points were vital. The Bantams were just as desperate for a win.

Sunderland led 1-0 at half time. Bradford equalised early in the second half before Sunderland responded immediately. Shortly after the fun and games started. Max Power (love the name) was red carded and conceded a penalty for his offence. The penalty was saved. Woo hoo. Sunderland still had 32 minutes to survive. It was certainly nerve wracking. Sunderland hung on to win 2-1. Bradford finished with 10 men with an injury time send off.

The three top teams lost which which is a good outcome for the Lads.

At the end of last season the Stadium of Light’s seating was faded and looking a bit sad. A good description of the fortunes of the club.

Then there was a regime change and the new management embarked on building bridges with the supporters.

The new owner spoke to supporters about improvements they would like to see and the faded seating was near the top of the list.

It was proposed that if the supporters would volunteer their time then the club would buy new seating. Afterwards the club would feed and water the troops in appreciation of their services.

It’s worked a treat and here’s the proof.

Sunderland continued its good form by winning away from home. Travelled to Shropshire and defeated Shrewsbury Town 2-0.

The relentless pace of League 1 continues with games played this morning.

The Lads played Doncaster Rovers away. These teams must love having a successful Sunderland. Crowd 12,000 - 4,000 travelling supporters.

It was tight but the Lads won 1-0. Still sitting third on the ladder with a game in hand and the best goal difference.

It’s annoying that daylight saving has interfered with English Football League kick offs. Games start at 1.00am (3PM local time). Just add it to the reasons why I hate daylight saving.

Southend United (thylacine60 new team) were Sunderland’s latest victim in pursuit of promotion to the Championship. A 3-0 home win is proof that the goal of bouncing back immediately is achievable this season.
Until next week...

The results keep coming. This time a 2-0 win away from home against Plymouth Argyle. To add some sugar to the result Wycombe Wanderers took Peterborough United down and the Lads have jumped into second spot. Haway the lads.

Little known Robbo fact. In 1976 Robbo attended his one and only game at Roker Park. The result 1-0. The opponent Plymouth Argyle.

FA Cup 1st round. The good teams don’t join the fray until the 3rd round. Sunderland travelled to Port Vale and came away 2-1 winners. It sounds like a typical cup tie where the unfancied teams grow an extra leg. Probably unlucky not to force a replay. 2nd round here we come!

Maybe your lads come up against mine in the cup. At Goodison or your place.

Sunderland missed a chance to go top of the league overnight against Wycombe Wanderers. A tough contest which saw Sunderland trail late in the second half. Josh Maja secured a point for the home team with his goal in the 83rd minute. That’s 10 in 17 games!

Another draw. This time away to Walsall 2-2. Sunderland went down to 10 men in the first half courtesy of another Max Power brain fade. 3 red cards this season is just crazy. After dominating the game the Lads were suddenly on the back foot and hoping for something special. It looked hopeless when Walsall put 2 in the net at the start of the second half. However this group is resilient. Goals to McGeady and Gooch had the travelling supporters jumping for joy.

Sunderland has lost 1 game in 18 this season. A remarkable effort given the lack of recent success.

I thought it was Stanley last night however it was Barnsley. Sunderland was up 3-0 after 30 minutes. Barnsley scores the next 2 before Sunderland sealed the game with a late goal. 4-2 is a cracking result for the fans. Sunderland is second at the moment.

Sunderland’s game against Accrington Stanley was abandoned due to the wet weather resulting in an unplayable pitch. The match was 1-1 when the ref called time with 17 minutes remaining. The club which refused to die should spend some hard earned on its ground.

The Lads bounced back after the FA Cup disappointment and rolled Bristol Rovers
2-1.

Dropped to 3rd behind Partsmouth and Luton.

2 games in hand though.

I’ll be watching Sunderland til I die shortly. Stay tuned for the review.

Sunderland came up short in the top of the table clash against Portsmouth. After a scoreless first half it soon went pear shaped in the second half when a penalty and red card were awarded (apparently not allowed due to a recent rule change). In the finish it was 3-1 and automatic promotion is a dogfight at the moment.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the Sunderland Football Club and supporters. Life is looking better and promotion is a real possibility. Two games before the end of the year. Both at home. The Bradford City game has sold 40,000 tickets! Shrewsbury Town is next Sunday.

6 points please Santa.

46,039 supporters (included 2,000 Bradford City fans) attended the traditional Boxing Day fixture. A special memory for all those involved.

Sunderland sent the fans home happy winning 1-0. The 3 points were vital considering the top team lost.

Roll on 30/12 and another 3 points please.
