The Rugby League World Cup 2017 Organising Committee has welcomed the first of the tournament's New Zealand Community Ambassadors at an event held in Auckland.

In front of New Zealand Sport and Recreation Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman and RLWC2017 CEO Andrew Hill, the first of a 100-strong team of Community Ambassadors received their uniform from RLWC2017 Chief Ambassador NZ, Sir Peter Leitch.

"Our Rugby League World Cup Community Ambassadors are passionate advocates of the sport and understand the positive role Rugby League plays in the community," Hill said.

"The successful delivery of this year's Rugby League World Cup will be in large part to the role of our Community Ambassadors. These passionate volunteers will help the Organising Committee promote the tournament throughout their communities and assist in the execution of World Cup events.
