Gary Moorcroft is the best player to have ever played in the YVMDFL, but almost unbelievably never won a league B&F in the 5 years he dominated the comp,never got in the top 3, quite embaressing for powers that be, one would've thought!!

Very big call best ever! Moorcroft did dominate yes but many have been his equal if not superier. Vincent Muttachelli wouldve had at least the same period of domiance as Gary. Charlie Richards has been mentioned. I could name 20 players in the last 30 years that have been as good as Gary.

In my two decades in the Valley I believe Moorcroft was a class above any other quality local player I've seen. I suspect he never got a B & F because he used to give a bit of lip to the umpies, plus he displayed a touch of aggro towards some opponents and vocal hecklers behind the goals.

Agreed. Dynamic, skillful, nasty and a matchwinner. Haven't seen anyone in the 90s or 00's who has matched him !
Anyone before that who is said to have been better must've been incredibly good.

Best Players this year - you could pick 2 or 3 from each club based on last year or do you include recruits?? Tough one - I noticed someone had Moorcroft - I agree he is probablythe best I have seen but he is no longer in the league! Instead of picking the obvious - I predict some of the younger players in the league will put their hand up. Michael Riseley if he plays at Woori - currently at Casey will be one for sure. Jimmy Dunnett is another to look out for. Regarding Tregoning - class act. Regarding 2nd Divvy players - There is plenty that would cut it in 1st Divvy.

Talking about divvy 2 players that would make the cut, you would have to say Gallichio from Kinglake, won the goal kicking by 50 or so & made the league side with only 1 other player from divvy 2 Tregoning, would be a handy inclusion for any team!

Yes he can certainly play.
Luke played back for most of last season for some reason, but now he is taking a more central role and he can control a game on whim.

It will be a bottler next Sunday at the Dome as Upwey host the Hawks in the annual Anzac Day match.
