I think the real question is, does LeBron go home if the Cavs roster looked more like the Bucks.

I mean it's an easy decision and it's easy to play it off like it's an emotional homecoming when the team has the last two No.1 picks in Wiggins and Bennett. Also have a top PG and former No.1 pick in Kyrie and also decent help in Varajao and Dion Waiters.

Bucks list isn't even bad. Giannis, Parker, Knight, Henson, Sanders, Ilyasova. One of the best young teams in the league.

Shaq played for six teams

Shaq openly chased the limelight. Shaq cared about his celebrity not his legacy. A bit disappointing, but thats just how he was.

Fair point - but the same as asking if he would've ever left if they had a decent coach in the first place.

Clearly the potential talent on the Cavs team, in comparison to where the Heat was headed, played a big part in his decision (probably moreso than the "come-home" factor) - but I think the biggest thing was doing what he thought was best from a PR-perspective... and I don't blame him for that, just shows how business savvy he is: he just one back a lot of fans, and if this Cavs team goes on to win some titles (even if his individual play declines, and we see the other guys play big roles) - it would mean a lot to how people view him.

No question
It's an interesting debate on realGM about not just the amount of time he was there but the fact he opted out of his only contract early, trying to steal half the team and not letting us know about his decision earlier when it was obvious he had decided.

I like to think of his stint as 4 years that we never should have had and what will take some beating to top as the franchises greatest ever period. It should be done but I think it should go up after the 3 who stayed.

Look at his peronal achievements in that period of time. Players would kill to do that over an entire career
Yeah he had an amazing 4 years. I think once he retires all this off-season stuff will be forgotten.

Question for the neutrals. Should LeBrons jersey eventually be retired in Miami?

I would say probably not.
Yes he acheived more in 4 years than most do in a career, but he was still only there for 4 years, and will end up having played at Cleveland for much longer.

It is historically an interesting question - i cannot remember another superstar ever doing what he's done... I will be curious to see what the Heat and their fans decide to do when all is said and done.

Yeah, I think the Shaq comparison is probably what stands out the most for me cementing Lebron's greatness.

When he left Cleveland I was really thinking that Lebron would end up like Shaq - a guy who was physically so much more dominant than anything we had ever seen before (probably only Wilt is comparable), but who showed no real desire to work on the limitations in his game that could take him to the next level - and it's easy to see why you wouldn't have that desire when you're that good.
In the years since, Lebron has become a very good post player, a reliable outside shooter, and a guy who is ready, and willing, to carry his team in the clutch. He has even pretty much said that they way he handled the first decision was a mistake, and says that is coming home to win a title for a city desperate for one... the guy has a very good business brain - I don't think Shaq ever had that.

Retiring his jersey is Miami. No question. 4 years, 4 trips to the NBA Finals and 2 chips. Easy decision. The real question is do you retire Bosh's?? He wasnt really a big time player, turned more into a role player and you dont retire role players jersey's when you win titles unfortunately.

We'll know the answer to that after he finished up playing there I guess

Udonis Haslem is most definitely getting his jersey retired for the Heat. I don't see why the same can't be said for Bosh.

And this is different to 'The Decision' how :P
