Most people are actually disappointed that they won't get to see him play, Eagles fans hoping to help the team win, or neutrals who just like watching him play. Ultimately the drive behind people's "sympathy" is self-interest, so to comparing him to the park footballer who we would never see and has no impact on our lives is a pointless exercise.
