Injury LeCras - officially out for the year :sad face:

Hope this isn't the start of a horror year.

I've been so pumped for this season after our great efforts last year.

I'm just hoping someone steps up to fill that void...

Empty feeling, much like the feeling you get after during the season...

From crisis comes opportunity, let's see who will bob up. Weedon, Hill, Dick, Neates, Newman anyone of them could take their opportunity.
Or will our forward structure change with maybe Lycett as a permanent forward and a small by his side.
Really disappointing to lose Lecca but I'm still very excited about the year to come.

Absolutely rotten luck for LeCras, hope he recovers well.

Too much doom and gloom in here people. Yes, it's terrible news but it shouldn't be the end of the world. Realistically, yes, the team will suffer but you never know what is around the corner, and as a few have posted, who will put their hand up. ;)

I feel like my expectations for this year have lowered. This is probably a good thing as I won't be as crushed if we don't make the top four.

I'd say Mascoulis or Tunbridge, depending on the first month of WAFL/any further forced changes. Lean to Mascoulis as he's got some pace.

IIRC Hamp is still a year or so off probably?

Haven't had a chance to vent my opinion on this tragic news, but after the initial shock and sadness yesterday I've woken up this morning with an optimistic outlook...

Hopefully Lecca's injury means another door opens for someone like Hill, Hams or Strijk. It would be a perfect opportunity for one of these blokes to step up and play outside their skin when they wouldn't have the chance if Lecca had been there. I just hope the three guys I mentioned as his likely replacements understand the importance of having someone like Lecca in the team, and accordingly step up to the occasion.

Still confident about 2012 !

Imagine how we would be feeling if he did this at the start of last year.

He was our only good player in 2010 so we pretty much thought that he was our only good player we had full stop.

Shocking news about the Frenchman, cast a shadow over the season before it has even started.

But, things could always be worse.

The journalist misses the point.

Sure, people feel sorry for Lecca, but that's not what is driving most of the conversation. Most people are actually disappointed that they won't get to see him play, Eagles fans hoping to help the team win, or neutrals who just like watching him play. Ultimately the drive behind people's "sympathy" is self-interest, so to comparing him to the park footballer who we would never see and has no impact on our lives is a pointless exercise.

You make a good point about the park footballer Larrikin, but I liked the Smith analogy.

I'm bummed that Lecca isn't going to play this year, but look at the case of Tim Ruffles, or Smith - or any of the countless other blokes whose careers were over before they got started.

Lecca, touch wood, will have many more great moments in his career and I think the point, at least initially, was that there are perhaps other less fortunate, less talented people who we should feel for.
