Mystery over Leeds 'sex assault' case

Leeds United pledged to co-operate with police tonight after two men were arrested in connection with an alleged sex attack.

A 20-year-old woman was reported to have been subjected to a alleged sexual assault in Leeds last night.

The Premiership club said they had been advised by West Yorkshire Police of an investigation.

A force spokeswoman refused to say how Leeds were linked to the alleged crime or whether the two men were connected to the club.

A statement from Leeds United said: 'Leeds United Football Club have been advised by West Yorkshire Police of an ongoing investigation, and in line with club policy full co-operation has been extended to the police.

'Any further comment cannot or will not be made by the club until the police investigation has been concluded and the club informed of that conclusion.''

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that two men were still being questioned in custody.

The statement read: 'We are currently investigating an alleged serious sex assault on a 20-year-old woman in Leeds last evening.

'Two men have been arrested and are currently being questioned in connection with the incident.'

The force refused to give any further information including where the alleged assault took place or the ages of the men.

BB's Editorial -
Bear in mind this is a different case to the 'gang rape' fiasco that has swept English football at the moment (and is probably less seriously) but still as a die hard Leeds fan, we've had a lot of crap to swallow over the past few seasons, and I hope none of our players are involved. (Woodgate and Bowyer's court trial started the Leeds Decline IMO). It's fair to say that I cannot defend any players if this is the case, (although no charges laid) and perhaps it will come out to nothing, but this is another horrible example of a club perhaps falling apart at the rails. Perhaps being relegated to the first division may not be so bad after.
PS Don't expect Viduka to stay around much longer and I can't blame him.
Still Leeds IMO are the greatest club in Europe (wishful thinking LOL) and I'll stay with them till the bitter ends of time.

Papers are reporting a Leeds star was one of those arrested, the other one wasn't a footballer. A second Leeds player was reported to be voluntarily assisting in the investigation.

Not good times off the field for Leeds and Newcastle supporters these last few years. Players that have offered so much on the field, appear to be scum of the highest order off it. (And that is without pre-judging the current two cases.)

Thought we had got rid of all the filth, my guess is someones who initials might be M and D (they might not be either) who was involved in different case with Rio a while back. Hate to be a heartless bastard but I hope it's one of the loanees.

Just got off the phone with my brother, he was at a venue on the night of the incident and tells me he saw Seth Johson and Jody Morris absolutely smashed. Pennant was also there but minding his own business. I'm not at all suggesting they are guilty of anything, just posting a fact that some may find of interest.

Just read on a Leeds board that Morris was arrested and Pennant was questioned. After the week we had last week, now we have to put up with this sh.t for the next few weeks.

Dumb footballers and I'm disappointed in Jody Morris who seemed to be a changed player on and off the field since he has been at Leeds. But the whole thing could be a typical, blown out of all proportion incident that commonly occurs when high-profile footballers are involved.

After the Woodgate/Bowyer saga, we don't need another bloody court trial disrupting the club.

Morris was the one that first came to my mind when the news broke so it was no surprise to me, especially given he was sighted blotto at the pub earlier. Has shown a staggering inability to control himself on the p1ss, and seems to be a pretty nasty character all-round. Still who knows the facts of this case, but it seems to me that these footballers are stupid for allowing themselves to get into positions like this, whether they have actually broken a law or not.

As for the one with the initials M and D, it seems his biggest crime was to grass up Bowyer and Woodgate. I'd be willing to bet that if the other two hadn't left the club, they would be infinitely more popular than the one bloke that told the truth, despite the pressure to do otherwise by the club.

Yes he did cop the rough end of the stick in the trial but he's a **** player anyway. ;) Why MD came to mind was because he and a player who left the club in 2002 for a fee in the range of 30m were involved in a bit of a altercation at a nightclub. Apparently they were touching up a girl, she didn't like it and told them to sod off. Later in the night the girl was threatened by someone who was sent by the two players, and told not to say anything.

Morris, doesn't surprise me, but innocent until proven guilty. Could be just a gold digger dreaming up a story. If he is found guilty he should be released immediately which would be a pity because I thought he was doing alright for us.

Yeah they are.

Paris, I too hope we don't have to sack him because he's been pretty good this year and his terrier-like/snap at the heels play has been an asset to our midfield.

Interesting to read that Leeds have suspended him for 2 weeks while the investigation is conducted. A wise move by the club and one that hopefully wont distract the team, especially with the extremely difficult run of matches over the next 3 weeks.

Exactly, this is all we need with Man U (twice), Liverpool and Arsenal coming up.

You'd think with a fresh start, and the opportunity that Reid has given him, Morris may have chilled out a bit. Obviously, he hasn't been found guilty (yet), but it still looks dicey.

F*ck it.
