I'm finding it impossible to predict what will happen, so many good and bad scenarios running through my head. Anyway, I look forward to opening my bleary eyes to see a packed out Elland Road doing all they can to get us over the line.

Come on you Whites, give it all you've got!

Oh and thanks drewie rama, hopefully there'll be a stream of the sky coverage this time, that Setanta commentator wasn't the best in the first leg.

We should be used to it but it still hurts like hell. Firstly, credit to the full house at Elland Road and the noise from the fans was just amazing. They hardly stopped for the entire match.

I can't really fault the effort from most of the team, I don't think that they choked, it just didn't happen for us. We put them under plenty of pressure but to their credit they handled most of it with aplomb, except for the first 20min of the second half.

Our two most valuable players let us down tonight. Beckford was ordinary over both legs and his penalty miss was symptomatic. He's failed to deliver when we needed him again, although without his goals, we'd never have been there. Delph has been poor for a number of months but maybe he's just burnt out from his first full professional season.

Beckford should be ever so grateful for Becchio's goal only minutes after his poor penalty. Right there I decided it wasn't going to be our night. But when Luciano scored after some brilliant work by Ben Parker, all of a sudden Millwall were coming apart defensively and it seemed only a matter of time before we landed the winning goal.

To me the decisive moment was Whitbread's concussion. We were all over them but the 5min or whatever it was that he was receiving treatment seemed to extinguish any momentum we had and allowed them to regroup. We never really looked like it after that.

They scored from what was their only chance, very similar to Saturday, but in a tight tie, that was likely to be the case.

For us, it was another wasted season. The crucial period where we lost 5 or 6 games in a row under McAllister was what cost us automatic promotion. We only finished 5pts out of 2nd and to think what might have been had Grayson been in charge all season. Hopefully we'll see the Leeds side from the past 5 months for the full season and the playoff nightmare can be averted.

Drewie, that's fine, don't worry about it. I ended viewing two good streams. I had an excellent Sky Sports one this morning that never buffered, while the one on the weekend was only let down by being a Setanta one. One thing I must do is send off my LUV membership application during the off-season.

Disappointing end, but who knows, we may have stuffed it up at Wembley again had we made it. Oh well, let's look forward to 2009/10.

Geez it hurts bad doesn't it... :(

What a roller coaster ride of emotion that game was, that tragic feeling of things just all going wrong after Beckford fluffed it to the absolute joy when Becchio converted from that awesome run by Parker, back to horror when we let them equalise and as those last 20 minutes slipped by. Was great hearing the crowd chanting so loudly, really makes you remember where we should be.

Well, where to from here? Seems inevitable Delph will leave for greener pastures, Beckford you'd think as well. Hopefully we can retain the other core players, I'd like to think Snodgrass and Luciano will choose to stay on. Looking at our squad and with Grayson in charge, we are just too good not to go up automatically next season, however that's what I thought around this time last year ago as well.

Shattered! Think I spent way over my phone cap continually checking the scores on my mobile. Never had a good feeling about the game.

Cheers to all the regular contributors to the thread, I have not written much on the thread but I have read it week in week out so thanks for keeping me posted, look forward to doing it all over again, hopefully without needing to go through play offs.

Yeah same goes for me guys, always check this thread, thanks for the brilliant posting throughout the season.

Those last 20 mins seemed to go by so damn fast.

Still sulking like a petulant child here.

F*ck I hate you Leeds, but geez I love you :(

So boys, who is gonna stay, who is gonna go? If we keep Delph and Beckford and have Grayson in charge for a full season, SURELY we will avoid this play-off nonsense next year. Should finish first in a canter. Massive if though...

year of the roo..ive been much more petulant in my sulking..so much so i havent been able to do anything since Friday morning and am only going back online now to read forums etc.

Catman's post summed it up well for me, another wasted season, leeds have an uncanny knack of teasing to the point of believing, but then letting you down right when you decide to believe again.

Let me point out a few things re: the above point in the last 3 seasons alone
In 05/06 Leeds had a magnifacent season, Reading got a points record that year in the CCC and we tried to keep up, Sheff Utd were 15 points clear of us, Leeds were resigned to playoffs, until we went on an amazing run and got within 2 points of sheff utd, then on a day where they lost with 4 games to go, we were 1 up against Norwich and hit the bar 4 times in the second half before conceding a late equaliser and then lost our game in hand and fell apart and finish 5th, only to then produce an amazing second leg playoff and look unbeatable again, Then in the final against watford dominating the first 10 minutes before falling apart.

Secondly, 06/07, awful season, all but relegated as of February, then go on a great run at home and pick up vital points away to the point where we look like we are safe, only until we crucially drop points against teams below us and around us and ultimatley get relegated.

Now this season, Fantastic start, looked unbeatable under McAlister, playing Arsenal style football in division 3, but like Arsenal as soon as the pitches started getting a bit muddy and not smooth, our passing and more crucially our defence fell to pieces, and we were around 13th place when McAlister was finally sacked in December, this after being in the top 2 for the first 2 months of the season. Again leeds fans thought we'd be extremely lucky to make playoffs, Grayson worked wonders and we started believing again, beating teams such as Millwall, Scampaignerhorpe, MK Dons, but then as always losing against rubble like Hereford, Northampton, Bristol Rovers, Orient etc. Amazingly we get within 4 points of second at one stage, then blow a 2 nil lead at Orient and they only have 10 men, and we;ve lost second place when it really was never ours.

We go into the playoffs clear of injuries, sell out crowds, winning 15 of 17 and more importantly 11 in a row at home, then blow it when it counts

Cant fault our effort, but as a leeds fan we've come to expect it, beckford will go to Ipswich or one of those and Delph will go to one of the big boys
Natural right back is needed even though i dont think douglas has done anything wrong filling in there.

New keeper also, Casper just isnt safe enough for me and would be fantastic if we could get sodje permanently, although a new reading manager may put a stop to that

I know its a long season but 5 results really killed our season bar the playoff games
2 nil loss at bottom place hereford
2-2 at orient after being 2 nil up and orient down to 10
2-2 at bristol rovers conceding a 96th minute equaliser
2 nil loss at home to relegation team Carlisle which was a game that shouldve stopped our rot in December
2-1 loss at northampton who we'd done in a cup tie 5-2 only 3 days earlier, this was the beginning of the rot

Not a lot else i can say, other than to say we'll all be back in here next season and we'll be back! MOT

A video that gives you goosebumps still hey, that is brilliant imagine being there, probably would of had a heart attack. Even though you smile watch it, nearly makes you cry at the same time....ah well good effort lads, next season is ours.

I have a question or two for the Leeds faithful, one of your former players, Ian Harte has signed a two year deal with Carlisle. It's been a couple of seasons since he last played at Elland Rd, but during his time, what did you think of him as player, and what are/were his strengths and weaknesses?

Also, I should have said this a couple of weeks ago, but thanks for helping us stay up this season, I was a huge relief after what has been a terrible season. And commiserations on your loss in the playoff and all the best for next season. May you finish second to Carlisle. :p

Ian Harte, over 200 appearances during our golden period (of sorts) in the late 90's early 00's. Briefly what I can remember of him at his peak.

Strengths - On his day his left boot was lethal. Dead ball expert. Crossing from out wide was also quality. From what I can remember, his positioning was pretty good.

Weaknesses - I've seen glaciers move quicker. Unfortunately it was this lack of pace which cost him late in his Leeds career. His strength was also suspect at times.

Should do a job at this level, even with him now aged in his 30's.

DEVO, i couldnt sum it up much better than that, only to add that he was very well liked by his teammates and hes very much a team-orientated man, which makes it suprising to me that hes had so many clubs recently
All the best to him and Carlisle

Thank You. I found a Leeds supporter at work and he said pretty much the same thing, a wonderful left foot, but moved like an Icelandic glacier. I'm hopeful he will give us some leadership and stability in the back four next season, which was so terrible last season it was almost comical.

We've announced that Jonathan Douglas and David Lucas won't be receiving new contracts once their current ones expire at the end of June.

Douglas surprises me a little considering he's been a ever-present in SG's side since he took over, but from all reports, his wage demands were going to be too high for our structure and a compromise was never going to be reached. He's been a good servant to the club and I wish him all the best.

Lucas, not surprised and not really fussed as he was just a back up keeper and an average one at that.

Douglas being courted by 4 championship clubs, i know Forest are definatley one, not sure of the others.

he has been a great servent and i wish him well, from all reports he was on 19k a week..which is far more than most in the squad.

Those wages will give beckford the contract he deserves as well as bring in one or two more

Cant believe we're giving richardson a new contract though, he should also be out and we should start fresh.

James Brown (cue the jokes) from hartlepool on a free would be a good start...

zak whitbred would be awesome:thumbsu:

Viduka back to leeds (possibly involving a swap with Beckford)..... what are the odds?

A vision popped into my head today of him leading us to promotion glory as I was daydreaming at work.

How awesome would it be!!!

****ing hell
cant believe he's off...hoping he stays..but bates is being a ****ing tight arse as usual..theyre trying to make him sound like the bad guy, like theyve done with lennon, danny rose, derry, sullivan, butler, gregan and countless others..

bates out

David Healy linked with a return, if we cant afford beckfords wages, what chance are we with him..hope it happens though

The usual Alan smith rumour has popped up saying he'll take a drop in wages etc..too bad hes under contract and not wanted by 90% of fans

Also linked with Billy Sharp from sheff utd

Permananant deal for sodje wont happen due to wages

Carney been transfer listed by sheff utd..lets move for him i reckon

Also linked with Maltese Striker Misfud

Lee Hendrie also available..maybe make a move there
