Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Thank you very much ref, 2 sending offs and another 3 yellows.

What are the rules regarding red cards? Do Kandol and Beckford both miss our next game? That would make things quite difficult.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

not 100% sure but i think theyre both ok to play on tuesday, but will miss next saturday, beckfords two yellows takes him to 5 bookings so he will also miss the game following next saturday
rumours of billy clarke on loan..we really need a striker

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Since when is it a yellow card offence to appluad a refs decision?

Since for ages, if he had done it once then ok.... he got the yellow, the fact that he kept on doing it after meant he got the red. Good work Referee

Its bullshit. How precious are the refs getting. Its ok for them to tee off at our manager but not for a player to sarcastically applaud them.

If they want the players to be professional they should set the example.

I don't think a ref would go after someone without provocation. You have a very young squad, they need to learn how to keep their heads in such a situation. Not go mouthing off at the ref

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

I'm sure little Denny Wise was approaching the ref with politeness and grace. Personally I think telling the little tw@t to f**k should be applauded more than the other way around.

And yes, sarcastically applauding the ref has long been a yellow card offence and rightly so.

The refs there to do a professional job. If Wise was abusing the ref send him to the stands. Don't mouth off at him.

Its hard to value your opinion with your hatred of leeds.

If applauding a ref is a yellow card offence the game has some real issues. I've had a look at the laws of the game and nowhere does it say 'sarcastically applauding the ref or anything of the like' is a bookable offence.

He had already been sent to the stands, straight after Kandol was sent off. The fact that he then went after the game to have another go at the ref suggests to me that there may be some provocation for the ref. And knowing what Wise is like I'm certainly not going to criticise the ref without knowing exactly what the circumstances were.

And despite what you may think, the club someone plays for has never influenced my opinion on whether they should be sent off or not. Certainly unlike some who will defend their club, manager and players on every occasion.

Unsportsmanlike conduct.

And yes, the game does have issues when young, rich sportsman feel the need to undermine the referee whenever a decision goes against them. They should not be encouraged.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

The referee was trying to get his face in the paper the next day, and acheived it with flying colours. You see players sarcastically appluad decision countless times throughout a season without punishment in every league every yr!!

Playing with a rookie striker alone up front tomorrow could be interesting..anyone got the send offs/goal on video?

In the interests of not trolling another teams thread I'll decline to mention just how much coverage division 3 football gets in the papers.

Minor story in both papers (I buy every paper that exists on Sundays), and has barely been mentioned on SSN compared to other matches.

How about we hear some criticism of the childish behavious of Kandol and Wise by Leeds supporters. So far everything that has gone wrong at the club this season has been someone elses fault.

Perhaps it's time club and supporters take some responsibility for their own actions. I know it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but a bit of class from club and supporters wouldn't go amiss every now and then.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Thats being ultra harsh
Overall what has happened though, you are correct is 100% our fault
what pisses leeds fans off is that it seems to be one rule for some and another for leeds
Ive seen a certain wayne rooney tons of times with the sarcastic applause and hardly anything happens
The CCC game on sky the other day, huckerby sarcastically applauded the ref, again nothing, from the links i posted it is clear the ref is an utter twat who cant make the step up from above the conference, even there he struggles
Dennis Wise is a ****, but hes our ****, and with everything that has happened this summer, hes adopted an us against them attitude which has really united the team and done wonders
If we're going to go back as far as the 15 points...well gee...i could write a 5000 word essay on how justice was served on that one

Criticism from Leeds supporters about their club? Where the hell have you been?

Read the various leeds forums and see what you can find.

Sent off last year (I think) in the chumps league for exactly the same.

And I dislike refereeing inconsistency as much as any, although I will say is that one (and only one) of the reasons the refs often get things wrong is that nowadays they are put under incredible pressure by players, and managers who do everything they can to make things difficult for them, and crowds who see the players behave the way they do and get on the refs back because of it.

I don't read Leeds forums, I come on here. And here you are all close to becoming more sycophantic about your club than Embers.

If it happened to City you'd be crying rape.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

What makes you think it hasn't happened to City before? In recent years Bernarbia (second yellow for dissent), Barton (second yellow for dissent at the half time break against Spurs - 3-0 down at half time :D), Horlock (second yellow for walking aggresively toward a referee), Andy Morrison (second yellow for licking an opponent - OK maybe that one was called for).

If you're on a yellow you don't take the risk of picking up another one.

The only one I remember being particularly upset by was Distin being sent off at the half time break for not handing the ball back to the ref (Styles). He was questioning an incorrectly awarded Chelsea goal, as captain I thought he was entitled to do that. He had already offered the ball to Styles (who didn't take it) and the half was over with all players walking back toward the rooms. Even with that I didn't whinge as much as I've seen on here.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Leeds have signed Coventry striker Wayne Andrews and Leicester forward Mark De Vries on one-month loan deals, report BBC Radio Leeds.
Andrews, 29, and De Vries, 32, go straight into the squad for Tuesday's League One match at Oldham.

De Vries has made eight appearances and scored once for the Foxes this season but Andrews has only come on once as a substitute for the Sky Blues this term.

The pair have been recruited because Leeds are short of strikers.

Elland Road boss Dennis Wise is without the services of Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford, who are both suspended.
