Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Great crowd... was thinking of heading over to watch a few games later this season - but would have to book early at this rate!! Gotta love it!!

Beckford.. taking us back to the epl!

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

The second half sounded like our best performance all season. We were probably lucky to be a goal up at half time but there was no disputing the final result as we battered them after that.

Beckford and Flo can't stop scoring and in big Tore's case, he only comes on at the end for a the last few minutes yet regularly leaves with a goal to his name!

Great to see the crowd was the highest for the 3rd tier in almost 30 years. We continually have got crowds that would put many premiership clubs to shame. But that isn't surprising.

Only two points off top now but another tough game next week away to the improving Walsall.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

1-1 against Walsall this morning. Depending on who you listen to it was either an Alan Thompson free kick or an Ian Westlake deflection off an Alan Thompson free kick that equalised for us. A draw seemed a fair result from all reports.

Bad news was the possible serious leg injury to Jonathan Douglas late in the match. Hopefully it isn't too bad but he appeared to be in a fair bit of pain.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Dougy out for 3 months minimum by the sounds of it - although as the article on the website said i reckon we can coverhim. Worried about our central defence tho.. a good signing would make my christmas!

Anyone think we are even half a chance of this new arbitration request working?

Whats that all about? I did see the word arbitration on the SSN ticker, but didn't catch any of the rest of it so don't have a clue what it was about.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

good win for leeds 1 nil over bristol rovers
keeps us 1 point from top and gives us a 4 point buffer of the teams chasing a playoff spot
Oh jonny howson dont play too well or that cradle snatching yids will be in for you in a fortnight:mad:

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

tough week coming up
hartlepool away
swansea away
oldham home-bearing in mind there on a 5 match winning streak away from home

think swansea is the crucial game, win that and we're in an awesome position, having said that, id be satisfied with 6 from 9

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

1-1, Beckford scored a pretty good goal by the sounds of it in the 90th minute.

Chucked people foward for the 5 stoppage minutes but didnt score obviously.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

we did do more fitness this pre season than apparently ever before..wise knew the gruelling schedule and subsequently ive read in a few programs that most of our midfielders did triathlete training pre season with a couple taking part in a triathlon.
Needless to say, we've had the fitness when needed

Anyway, onto the game, i fell asleep after 80 minutes would you believe, results around us went ok, huge match away to swansea, would be satisfied with a draw

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Been pretty lucky with those late goals this year!

Part down to the spirit Wise has instilled in this side and also the improved fitness levels to the fat blobs we had running around last season. Wise made sure we were fit right from the start and we always finish matches strongly, supported by the high number of late but vitally important goals we've scored.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

It appears we're going through a little bit of a slump after a second consecutive loss this morning. After being beaten 3-2 by Swansea on the weekend Oldham came to Elland Road and became the first side to win for almost a year with a comprehensive 3-1 win over a listless Leeds side.

The transfer window appears to be opening at an ideal time so we can sign a few players to cover a few weaknesses in our squad.

Important game on Saturday against Northampton where we hopefully bounce back to winning form.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Not on a wind up or anything. Someone on a City board posted that Leeds might yet again be in trouble with the Inland Revenue, and there could be more problems ahead for Leeds.

Any talk amongst the Leeds lot?

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

aint heard nowt
Inland Revenue, as far as i know, cannot touch us unless someone takes a controlling interest/stake in the club totalling more than 50%. If this happens in the next 12 months than all past creditors will get 50p in the pound on their original doubt
This will also occur if leeds return to the premiership before season beginning 2010/2011

The only concern im reading about is the current court case over the 15 points, it is unclear as to weather the courts can increase the sentance and this has not yet been cleared up by the club.
Sure it would be great to get whats rightfully ours, but i wouldnt be doing it if theres a risk of losing further points

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

big day by wisey in the transfer market
neil kilkenny- the aussie! in on emergency loan, will sign early next week for undisclosed fee, this has pissed off oldham, doncaster and scampaignerhorpe who were all hot on his tail
sebastian sorsa- finnish winger has signed on free transfer
Bradley Johnson- turned down a move to leicester and wolves were very keen, he is now talking personal terms with us.

we're also bidding for
jason puncheon
Lubo Michalik
Dean Morgan

was even a story floating around today that we're trying to take adrian leijer on loan for the rest of the season
we needed a lift...we are starting to stumble..

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

All very good signings and all have the potential to perform at a higher level too which is always an advantage. All are still very young with a long career hopefully ahead of them.

It will be good to freshen the side up as we have got a little stale in the last few weeks. A bit of competition for positions is always healthy.
