Barely 5 minutes into the Melbourne vs Carlton game at the G and Mathews is already coming out with some bizarre comments. Provides no analytical commentary and just says what any aussie sitting in the lounge room could. If it was just that i could tolerate him but the 65yo just criticizes everything. Typical old man brain where we criticizes something and then says "but thats modern footy for ya".

Just stfu Leigh and retire.

He's not a sycophant or a flip-flopper like so many of the other special comments guys. Nick Maxwell is probably the best boundary rider.

Reckon Lethal has just about reached his use by date as a commentator and agree that Maxwell is on-the-ball. From a consumers perspective it's disappointing that Maxwell's role at GWS precludes him from doing more in the media.

He has been crap for years but they'll keep him because of his status in the game.

Agree. Was a good commentator in his first few years post-Lions (as he was in 1996-98 period) but in last 3-4 years seems to have gone onto autopilot and is just going through the motions. That's probably the main reason Ch 7 got rid of him from Friday nights.
