You need that on a wing but the biggest things is your damage by foot and I think O’Neill has the edge in that regard.
Small discussion amongst Lions draft followers.

From observations of WA’s first two games, does Sharp offer anything more than Tom Cutler?

Cutler has line breaking speed, can kick the ball 60 metres, but can’t get in the Lions side because he doesn’t work hard enough defensively or crack in to the contest.

At the moment Lewey Taylor is keeping Cutler out of the team.

Watching O’Neill take off , lower his eyes, change direction , punch a low kick into the path of an opponent ... then repeating it the next time he got the ball got my attention...

There’s not many in the afl that do that

Having watched a few more games, I thought it would be best to update my current thoughts on the rankings.
This draft is very open at the top end for me and I feel you could shuffle the top 8 names in any order and I could make a case for them to be ranked in that order. A few players have not shown their best and I am dropping them down the order, but a good finish to the season and they could easily come back into a top 15 spot.
**** I may have forgotten a name or two, sorry.*******

1. Hayden Young - I am going to stick with this kid has my [HASH=303]#1,[/HASH] just has marking, tackling, kicking and agility. Not 100% locked on him being pick 1, but he has a massive ceiling for me and if he moves into the midfield like Kemp has shown, he should be around the mark.
2. Brodie Kemp - Just another likely prospect that can play anywhere in my mind. I think he could move forward, back and certainly looks at home in the midfield. Lovely size, just screams AFL to me and once again like Young has plenty of upside at AFL level.
3. Lachlan Ash - Was my favourite player last year and still is close to my favourite player in this draft. He has speed, kicking and can play back and forward, another massive upside pick in my eyes.
4. Thomas Green - Okay, I am onboard with this player now, he is a contested beast and was close to a one man army for the Allies in the middle. I am less worried about those players with AFL developed bodies not having upside, this guy is a beast already.
5. Matt Rowell - This kid is about as close to a lock to play 200 games in this draft. You could certainly argue for pick 1 with this kid, I am just knocking him down due to size and scope for pure upside. Still, whoever gets this kid will not be upset in the slightest.
6. Sam Flanders - Jump on board this kids train, showed against SA that he can play midfield. He has shown he is very dangerous forward so a goal kicking midfielder is always wanted at AFL level. Once again is a man playing against kids, but that does not bother me as much these days, I know he can build an AFL bodie.
7. Noah Anderson - I wanted more from this kid and he was very solid, just did not hit the highs I would hope. Again another player that if you picked him with the first pick, I would not complain.
8. Will Gould - Once again another man child that does not worry me at AFL level, just wins the ball and attacks every contest.
9. Caleb Serong - Gets the ball, marks the ball and is a contested beast. I just question his kicking and decision making skills at times, that is where he drops down the list.
10. Trent Rivers - He will move into the midfield in the second half of the season and has shown he is very good in the backline. Reads the play before most players, has a great kick on him and hits his targets, hard at the ball and has a defensive side to his game.
11. Jeremy Sharp - Where do you rate this kid, could be anything and could be a flop. I am going for upside here and selecting him high. There is a massive * next to his name that would allow me to drop him down the rankings.
12. Trent Bianco - You want the ball in this kids hands, tough and makes good decisions.
13. Fisher Mcasey - If you need a key defender this is your man and is a lovely kick and makes great decisions.
14. Trey Ruscoe - Okay this is my bandwagon and I am sticking to it. I think he will move into the midfield long term but maybe spend the first 5 years as a defender. Such a tough player at the ball and strong overhead and kicks the ball nicely.
15. Finn Maginess - Inside contested ball winning midfielder that always has a place at AFL level.
16. Liam Henry
17. Dylan Stephens
18. Jay Rantell
19. Devon Robertson
20. Mich O'Neill
21. Elijah Taylor
22. Luke Jackson
23. Josh Worrell
24. Will Day - If he can show he has the ability to develop a larger frame, he may go higher.
25. Harry Schoenberg
26. Jackson Mead
27. Miles Bergman
28. Dylan Williams
29. Brock Smith
30. Harrison Jones - Maybe a little too high, but I like him.
31. Jake Pasini - If someone really wants a tall defender, he may go higher
32. Cameron Taheny
33. Dyson Hilder - If someone really wants a tall defender, he may go higher
34. Malcolm Rosas Jnr - Small forward could go higher if required
35. Cody Weightman - Small forward could go higher if required
36. Thomson Dow
37. Riley Garcia
38. Sam De Koning
39. Louis Butler
40. Kysaiah Pickett

Find room in the first round for Kaidean Coleman LM.

The kid has been playing with the Lions reserves all year and he is easily the best kid I have seen play with us. Expect him to shoot up boards as some of the club guys start to leak a bit of info.

Quigley!!!

Any chance of a Quigley draft board novel this year?

I'm curious about your rating of Devon Robertson...you had him at ten...
He's now at 19...after being THE dominant midfielder and winning the Larke.
In the two games I saw him in he was easily the best mid on the park

I thought I might have gone a little early on him the first time around, I am still a massive fan. Just a little scrappy at times, then again I had Serong high and I see him as a scrappy player as well. I may grow some balls again and place him back up high. After watching the last game he is making my first thoughts feel a lot more accurate.

It is hard to ignore BF people telling you his flaws...

Now that I have watched the last two games, I will do a final post championship update and see how the cards fall.

I have a feeling he will be around the 10 mark again. I may attempt to remove outside noise and pick my favourites.

This list is obviously championship only as I've just watched virtually every game of the championships. No doubt once information on players like Coleman appear, I can adjust the rankings. I obviously need my Quigley Division two special pick. :p

Except he didn’t play division two.

He’s been kept strictly in the NEAFL team and hasn’t played an academy game this year.

You ask any Lions fan who watches our NEAFL matches, and Coleman has out performed all of our 2018 draftees. Playing either as a running small defender, wing or small forward.

The main knock on Coleman is that he’s still relatively lightweight.

Draftwise I think Robertson will go earlier than most currently have him and probably top 10 because he is a very secure, bankable prospect and actual recruiters rate "bankability" higher than BigFootyists due to having higher skin in the game.

Nevertheless I also think that at least 11-12 of the players you have there before him have better overall prospects purely because of their higher ceilings (in conjunction with current performance levels).

But I still think you have Ruscoe too high! :p

Spot on. Really impressive. I read he statistically had a better carnival than Walsh's last year!

I liked Ash from what I saw as well. Kid's got some skills.

Any thoughts as to why?
He’s an U19 academy kid, so his draft year was last year.

A lot of Lions fans thought he was worth a rookie list spot, but we ended up de-listing two contracted players, and picking them up in rookie draft, thus opening up 2 extra picks in the National Draft.

It seems missing out on being drafted lit a fire under Coleman, and he’s stepped up this year.

He is too old.
All our other U19 academy kids got a run in the Academy series and NAB league games.

Coleman did play the academy series, he was playing forward in the nableague which was the academy series

he was the tall aboriginal kid that had some x-factor about him and kicked a few goals, or am i going mad and seeing things?

he is mentioned in nableague games on page 7 of my draft watch and in a media share by a poster with him kicking 1 goal... i'm pretty sure he played a few games, for some reason he isnt mentioned on AFL Draft Central, it must be an over sight or bug/issue

I’m sure he didn’t.

Are you thinking of Bruce Reville? He’s also an Aboriginal kid in our academy and was also in the Allies academy and squad.
