in fact he played all 5 academy series games..... number 13 btw

I positive he didn’t play all 5 games because I watched him in the NEAFL when we had a NAB league or academy series game on.

Speaking of Blake Coleman (I didn't realize either that Keidean had a younger brother), what sort of player is Blake, is he projected to be a draftable player at this early stage?

I’ve checked the NEAFL games.

Coleman has played every game for the NEAFL team, but we did have byes in weeks 7 and 11.

So he might have played those weekends.
Cumberland has gone past him , he and Martyn are your best chances of being picked up

Have you watched much of our NEAFL team?

I don't believe Cumberland has gone past Coleman.

I can see the Lions matching a 40+ bid for Cumberland. Martyn looks more like a rookie pick for me. But I believe Coleman is the academy kid we will prioritise come draft time.

If we're drafting an inside mid this year, they need to offer something different to our current young mids playing NEAFL, and Martyn doesn't.

We could definitely use a Dylan Stephens, Mitch O'Neill, Trent Rivers, Trent Bianco or Jeremy Sharp*.

Jeremy Sharp reminds me a lot of Tom Cutler, and we're likely going to lose Cutler this year because he can't cement a spot in the best 22, mainly because he doesn't work hard enough defensively or put his body on the line at a contest. Possesses all the athletic abilities and skills you want in a wing, just is a reluctant tackler or reluctant to put his head over the ball.

I have seen a couple of games Coleman has played and he is skilled but not as quick as people think ie saw him run down and then outmarked by his opponent one of the gc small academy forwards. He would a late pick / rookie

A lot of people rank Sharp quite highly, but I’ve seen what you’ve seen, and have seen him pull out of contests when he should have put his nose over the ball.

Quite skilled as a full outside mid, but some times you have to get your hands dirty!.

For outside types I like Bianco and Rosas

Sharp has been an exceptional junior and has made teams all the way along with sheer talent and fitness. But seeing him
lately, he isn’t cutting the mustard. Doesn’t work hard enough. Still a good runner off half back but not accountable - wants to be known for all the flashy stuff. I reckon he made the AA on name alone- made it last year as a bottom ager. He didn’t deserve it this year imo. Off field, he has quite the ego and that could have something to do with it maybe. But time will tell if he can with through that with maturity.

It has been a long time between drinks. This is my latest update with a heap more data. General thoughts below

  • Even across the board with a wide variety of rankings depending on personal preference.
  • Complete lack of real tall forwards
  • Plenty of risky picks that could go bang depending on team and their development
  • Not massive depth on initial observation
  • Rowell - A lock to be a solid player, maybe just not the best of the bunch
  • Anderson - I certainly have not seen his best efforts, just not sure what the hype is about
  • Serong - Small and kicking is an issue

  1. Young
  2. Rowell
  3. Green
  4. Ash
  5. Anderson
  6. Flanders
  7. Rivers
  8. Kemp
  9. Gould
  10. Henry
  11. Stephens
  12. Robertson
  13. Maginess
  14. Serong
  15. Worrell
  16. Sharp
  17. McAsey
  18. Williams (This could leave egg on my face)
  19. Jackson
  20. Taylor
  21. Bianco
  22. Day
  23. Bergman
  24. Jones (Pure upside here, I would want some medicals on his body development potential)
  25. Weightman
  26. De Koning
  27. Ruscoe (I would gladly select him higher but he may drift a little)
  28. Rantell
  29. Schoenberg
  30. Taheny (Potential to make me look silly)
  31. Stephens (Not enough data to really make a proper judgement, but based on others thoughts, he will be around here)
  32. O'Neill
  33. Mead
  34. Brock Smith
  35. Comben
  36. Bryan
  37. Garcia
  38. Dow
  39. Pickett
  40. Pasini

A little rushed at the moment, but thought I should get something down on paper again with regards to my thoughts.
It is Carlton biased with regards to my required needs.
I may have taller defenders dropped down a little more than required and small forward increased a little more than required.
If you feel like your club requires a tall defender, feel free to go down the list until you see a name.
Young is still my favourite draft prospect, but Rowell is just a solid player and you want those with pick 1's.
I completely understand GCS doing the mates concept, so Anderson going with pick two makes sense.
I may updated a few more times before draft night.

Is this your Ranking ? Some very different ratings Bergman,Rantall,Rivers,Sharp all pretty high

Is this your Ranking ? Some very different ratings Bergman,Rantall,Rivers,Sharp all pretty high

Bergman - Very talented player and has plenty of scope for improvement. I am hoping that he transitions into a Luke Bruest styled forward in the long term.

Rantall - Some of the best hands on the inside in this draft class and has a massive tank, plays both the offensive and defensive side to the game. His only question mark seems to be his kicking, but with his inside hands and endurance levels, I think he will be one of the better midfielders in this draft. He can also drift forward, so he may start like Taranto in the foward line and move into the midfield long term. Super professional player and comes from an elite background across a number of sports.

Rivers - There is not a lot Rivers cannot do, coming from no preseason due to sickness, he still showed amazing HBF ability. Shifted into the midfield and forward of center at Colts level and dominated. High level football IQ and clean hands, if this kid played TAC footy, he would be considered by many a lot higher.

Sharp - I remember Ross Lyon saying you can teach players how to defend. Now Sharp is going to be a massive test case for that concept, I would make him play a lock down role for two years and drum into him that you have to run both ways and stop players! If he learns that aspect of the game, this kid has ELITE talent. I am backing in a club having a strong system in place to help him fix his defensive issues, if they do, you have a potential top 5 talent on your hands.
