just read in the HS that Leon Cameron is heading to Hawthorn next year as assitant to Clarkson " Western Bulldogs assistant Leon Cameron appears to be heading to Waverley Park to work under Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson next year. Cameron has ruled out interest in the vacant senior Essendon position"
such a shame to see him go, i think either he or choco would both make great senior coaches for our club in years to come

Might be a good thing. Get some experience elsewhere then come back with some freshness. He's been assistant for a while at the Bulldogs so I doubt if he was to coach the doggies right after Eade things would change much.

That's if he ever decides to come back. It's a fair loss.

We don't need another Eade clone as our next coach. Cameron would be all tactics and pretty kicking patterns. I want a tough and intimidating figure as our next coach.

Our coaching staff need a re-fresh IMO. Eade is around for another year so this is probably a good thing.

Wouldn't mind seeing Williams moved on either.

Good move for Leon. Would be great to learn under the guidance of someone away from the Kennel.. Malthouse, Thompson, Clarkson would all be a good place to start. Just because he's going to get experience elsewhere it doesnt rule him out of a senior coaching role at the Dogs in years to come.

Leon appears to be another Choco Royal. Everyone wants him but nobody wants him. All you folks suggesting the experience will do him good....did he not have a gig under Wallace at the Dogs? Did he not go to Richmond as an Asst too? He seems to be "in the mix" every time a vacancy appears, yet withdraws, then moves on. Surely if Leon intentended taking on a full time gig, he should stay at the Dogs 1 more season, and have a fair crack at taking over from Eade in 2012. He could have Royal as his asst!...:>)

hooroo....

Sad if true - I've been impressed by Leon (and a bit surprised, he was a relatively quiet player - but as an asst coach, he has been a great communicator)

Disagree.
I must say he is a great bloke, but I haven't been impressed with any of our assistants or MC this year (except Peter German at Willi). Forget who Leon use to play for, he wont be a huge loss (if he goes), we need a bit of a cleanout in the box. Fantasia has been under the pump and hasn't exactly covered himself in glory this year either.

What will he bring to us that Leon does not give us?

He can run the Punters Club and sweeps

But seriously, I'd love him at the club.

On a somewhat related topic I think our laughable footy department expenditure is a overlooked but important reason of our downfall.

Outside of player payment Collingwood spent 7 million, we were last out of all teams with a meagre 2 million. This is a huge factor, the more you spend the better quality assistants you get on top of other development related specialists.

St kilda was around the 5th mark, I know we are a poor club but the club should just forget about profit margins and pump all retained cash into the footy department, it is getting to the point that a top 4 side like us is simply at a severe disadvantage.

Leon Cameron is our midfield coach pretty sure
Williams is our forward coach i reckon he should go based on our forward line structurally compared to mids and def

He's our fwd line coach, right? Our fwd pressure has been rubbish.

It really depends on who is picking the team I guess.

If Williams has full responsibility for picking the players to play in 'his' forwardline I would agree with you, but if he has to work with the group that is chosen for him I won't.

It's not like he is a miracle worker and can make the likes of Higgins, Johnson, Hahn, Giansiracusa and Eagleton any faster or more agile.

Cameron is NOT going to Hawthorn.

From afl.com.au: Cameron said forward Andrew Hooper would be more than capable of handling the pressure of playing his first game in a final.

He also doused speculation he was headed to Waverley to work as an assistant coach to Alastair Clarkson.

"It's just another innuendo story that's floating around," he said.

"People just make up stories to try and pull things apart."

Probably easier to have a crack at the top job from another club as the board would see you as part of the problem if your here surely. Right move if he wants a crack in my opinion.
