Who are they currently missing from their best 22? Shaw's an obvious one, and I'm certain they're missing a couple of other guns, but their 22 still looks pretty strong.

shaw, greene, williams, scully, patton, griffen and deledio currently. plus kelly and cameron have missed big chunks of the year. They've done pretty well this year all things considered.

Scully is a massive one. Not only a very good player, but really important to their game style.

Patton and Greene also pretty big losses. They've certainly lost a few players in important positions for them.

Interesting to see how they go with Shaw, Greene and Deledio coming back into the team. Still a very dangerous lineup.

Barring some sort of miracle, Shaw is done for the season.

Depth is being tested
And Melbourne played as well as I've seen them play.

Should beat the Swans, but I'd be surprised to see them make a prelim from here

Nah. Sydney beat them like 2 weeks ago and i can't see why that would change. GWS just feels like they are limping into the finals; their last 2 games have been ordinary. Sydney will be primed with Franklin and Parker rested up.

Should he be sacked if GWS don't make it to at least the prelim?

No way - GWS injuries this year have been huge and he had done well to turn their position around to come 7th.

Hopefully next year they are injury free to see how they go then, should be top 4 worst case.

What was the excuse last year then? and 2016?

Patton/Scully/Greene/Griffen/Deledio/De Boer/Williams/Shaw

So probably their most important midfielder, 3 best rebounding defenders, Best small forward, Second tall forward and two very experienced players in Griffen and Deledio

I mean you can argue De Boer or whatever but he makes a huge difference in the forwardline so most GWS fans and GWS would have him in the top 22.

Biggest miss was losing Wilson, also having Williams out, who were an absolute guns at releasing the hard running midfielders. It's been a huge loss.

So about a third of the team, PLus guys like Kelly and Shiels were completely under-done during the season, and would of played less games but had bigger rests if they had the luxuary.

37 players used this season says a team was chopped and changed a lot this season ands didnt really get a true run at it
