Not just Grannys, any big game he has a poor record in.
No he doesn't, that is pure BF shit. His finals record outside GFs is fine, and he has played some cracking games on the big stage of the MCG during the regular season. There are some severely ignorant posters on here.

If he was 28, I'd say hell yes, but 30 is just that bit too old.

I still can't believe some would argue that he was amongst Collingwood's worst players this grand final when he had 20 disposals and 11 tackles.

Heck, Nick Riewoldt hasn't exactly preformed in the grand finals he has played in (with an average of 1 goal for 3 grand finals) so I guess he would be no good for us either?

It bloody pisses me off too! He was probably Collingwood's best defender on the day; Reid, Harry O and Maxwell all had shockers, Shaw was ok. Davis has had a very good career, and people on here obviously haven't seen that much of him and are just forming opinion on BF and media crap. Was easily the best small defender in 2011.

Love Leon as player, but realistically we're not going to be challenging for a flag till around 2015, at which point he will be 34 years of age.

Would be seriously tempted to get him (especially if it didn't cost us much), but he seems a much better fit for the Eagles or Freo who are much closer to Top-4 status than us.

If that turns out to be the case I'll send my testicles to you in the mail.

Yep and he was a yound kid playing in a fwd pocket in 2 losing gfs, how easy is it to go missing in that possy when a)your young b) your not getting the ball down there (Pretty sure they were the days of the flood tactic). Any one who has played footy knows that it is a hard possie to star in when your losing. Fwd pockets didnt press up to a wing like they do today. I hope the club look at it at least, but as I said maybe age, but I would rather him on the list than Callinan. Not because I don't rate Callinan, I just rate LD higher.

He's a gun, his kicking is just perfect, along with his decision making. Certainly took him a while to mature into the player he is today. IMO he's a player who can play until 34 ish, he's very fit still, it'd just be mentally he'd find it hard to keep going. Good player but doesn't fit our list unfortunately. I would still seriously consider him though, if nothing tickles our fancy in the PSD and he's still there I'd take a long hard look.

Well said, also, most elite small forwards have a poor GF record full stop.

A really good post. The guy is a dual AA, people here talk as if he's a complete spud. I think he will end up on either WCE's list or the Dockers, as he obviously wants to be in WA. As his wife is from SA that may be an alternative, but I suspect only if he can continue in the AFL. If your choices are WAFL or AFL with the Crows or Power what would you choose?

Note: I would choose Crows, WAFL, amateur league, country footy then maybe the filthy scum a distant last.;)

Leon Davis' manager says he would consider a move to Adelaide or Port Adelaide should West Coast or Fremantle not pick him up. Any interest?

Would prefer Fev over Davis and thats saying something considering how much a risk Fev would be.

Anyone who says that Davis would not add value to our team is smoking opium. In 2010 and prior I disliked LD for his antics and his demeanor on the field. In 2011 I saw him in a different light and he had a great season. Whilst he will not be around for our next Grand Final having him in the team alongside of our youth would help develop our teams skills. We have lost so much experience over the past two years. We need a blend of experience and youth. And as for everyone talking about our ability to fund him I would be asking how individuals on this site know the financial situation of the AFC....I assume they are guessing.

List manager David Noble said: "We won't be looking at Leon in the national draft because we have other priorities there, but we intend to keep a spot open in the (December) pre-season draft."

"Leon is obviously a quality player - we've seen what he can do at AFL level - but we have to ask ourselves some questions about whether, at his age, he fits into our criteria and how he can add to our group moving forward.

"We went with youth (players aged under 23) in the trade period but we have some interest in the mature-age group in the drafts.
"He could be an instant hit for us, but does he give you longevity and does he take games away from young players which could hinder their development?

"They are two questions that we have to ask ourselves. There is also the matter of trying to fit him into our salary cap, so we've got a bit to work through."

Noble just said what most of us were thinking. Didn't totally rule it out though. But yes Leon would take a spot away from the youngsters and not in the age profile we are looking at. Thought if we took a mature ager it wouldnt be another 30 year old like calinan. Actually calinan is a bit younger..
Good player yes, Instant fix, yes..but i hope we don't.

Sorry to comment on your board guys but a move to adelaide for davis could be on the cards. Im good friends with his cousin who tells me he has family over there.

Fev has upside but it could go completely pear shaped and clearly has no leadership qualities.

Leon has just come off a AA, in the best form of his career and is the same age.

I would be neither happy or disappointed if we picked him up.

I think the club's measured response is just about spot imo. They've clearly considered all the factors on this one.

Fev is absolute poison for a young group. Doesn't even deserve consideration. He's been shockingly inconsistent for Casey this year. Davis got AA. That's one of the worst "big calls" I've ever heard on this board.
